BackgroundOutpatient reservation service is an important reform measure of medical service in recent years,but the related services in China have been carried out late and the system is imperfect.Besides,there were no researches about the status of outpatient reservation registration in hospitals in Suzhou.ObjectiveTo analysis of outpatient reservation data from 2014 to 2016 in a tertiary hospital of Suzhou and describe the distribution of outpatient reservation and miss,to explore the influence factors and changes in the outpatient appointment,and to provide countermeasures and suggestions for promoting the development of reservation service in hospitals.Subjects and methodsUsing the Hospital Information System and outpatient reservation management system of a tertiary hospital in Suzhou,4744164 patients were selected as the research subjects during 2014 to 2016.Organized the data with Excel2007 and used SPSS19 for statistical analysis,chi square test was used to compare the rate and constituent ratio,the trend chi square test was used to compare the trend,and the significant level was 0.05.Result1.The number of outpatients in the hospital in 2014 to 2016 was 1550949,1574726 and 1618489,respectively.Reservation rate increased but miss rate decreased with each passing year,the reservation rate increased from 14.82% to 58.70%,miss rate decreased from 11.97% to 7.47%(trend P< 0.0001).2.The reservation rates of general clinics and specialist clinics were increased(trend P< 0.0001).The reservation rate of general clinics increased by 18.57%,and specialist clinics was increased by 61.16%.Moreover,the reservation rate of specialist clinics was higher than that of general clinics every year(all P < 0.0001).3.The miss rate in general clinics and specialist clinics were decreased year by year(trend P< 0.0001),it decreased by 6.37% and 2.56% in general clinics and specialist clinics respectively.And it in specialist clinics were lower than those in general clinics(P < 0.0001).4.On the way of reservation,appointment in examines was the most popular booking method in 2014(60.94%),while the most frequent reservation method was site reservation in 2015 and 2016,the constituent ratio were 50.83% and 62.05%,respectively.5.Among the different reservation categories,86.77% of the patient in specialist clinics used network reservation,and more than half of the patients in general clinics chose site reservation(52.52%),there were statistical significance in the reservation form of different reservation categories(P< 0.0001).6.The reservation rates in obstetrics,department of assisted reproductive,department of stomatology,gynecology and department of traditional Chinese medicine were in the top five,which were all above 80%.46.11% obstetric patients chose appointment in examines;department of assisted reproductive,department of stomatology and gynecology were more inclined to online reservation,the constituent ratio were45.63%,54.64% and 57.18%,respectively.7.The miss rates in orthopedics,department of growth and development,department of stomatology,ophthalmology and obstetrics were in the top five.Among those,orthopedics had the highest miss rate(19.02%).Moreover,reservation for return visit in orthopedics,department of growth and development and ophthalmology had high miss rate,the constituent ratio were72.58%,68.82% and 65.48%,respectively;site reservation in obstetrics and department of stomatology had high miss rate,the constituent ratio were48.86% and 72.82%,respectively.8.The number of discharged patients increased while the number of return visit patients decreased year by year.The reservation rates after discharge in 2014-2016 were 3.41%,2.12% and 1.55%,respectively(P<0.0001).Conclusion1.Reservation rate increased but miss rate decreased in 2014-2016,this situation existed in general clinics and specialist clinics,in addition,while reservation rates in specialist clinics was higher than general clinics,it's miss rate lower than general clinics.2.In the past three years,the appointment mode has been changed from appointment in examines to site reservation,patients in specialist clinics preferred network reservation,and more than half of the patient in general clinics chose site reservation.3.The reservation rates and miss rates in orthopedics and department of stomatology were both high,reservation for return visit in orthopedics,department of growth and development and ophthalmology had high proportion of patients fail.
