Objective To compare conventional care and Quality Control Circle in self-care agency among patients with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage,to examine effect of Quality Control Circle on improving self-care agency among upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage patients.Method From August 2016 to January 2017,according to inclusion criterion,88patients with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage were recruited in gastroenterology department at a hospital in Hunan Province, employing convenient sampling.According to inpatient departments, all the participants were divided randomly into the control group(the first department of gastroenterology)and the intervention group(the second department of gastroenterology)and there were 44 people in each group. As to the demographic data including gender, age, the degree of education, occupation, family income, duration of disease, hospitalizations, the types of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage, there was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).In control group, patients accepted conventional care, while for patients in intervention group, they accepted conventional care and participated in QCC activities.Using the patients general condition questionnaire and self care ability measurement scale to survey objects when they admitted to hospital and a week later, respectively. To compare self-care agency scores of patients in two groups to judge the effect of the QCC activity.SPSS 22.0 software was used to input and analyze data as follows:The quantitative data were described as x±s,and rate and composition ratio were employed to describe qualitative data.Qualitative data?~2test adopted to compare, when P<0.05 differences were considered statistically significant. Results As the total score of self-care ability and its dimension involving the sense of responsibility for self-care,self-concept,self-care skills, and the level of the health knowledge no statistical difference(P>0.05)were found between two groups before intervention.Statistical difference(P<0.05)were identified between two groups after intervention.Patients'self-care ability,self-concept,the proportion of high level of intervention group, health knowledge increased, compared with control group,47.7%?54.5%?36.4%and 34.1%?47.7%?29.5%,respectively.Conclusion Quality control circle activities can improve the self-care skill of patients with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage, promote the level of the health knowledge and the self-concept,and enhance the patient's self-care ability.Quality control circle activities should be advocated in clinical practice.
