Study On The Strategic Development Of Private Hospitals Of Fujian

The year 2009,a new health reform was initiated.The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council presented explicitly that"social capital shall be encouraged and guided to the health sector so as to actively promote the development of non-public medical and healthcare institutes",which provides broader platform for the development of private hospitals.As one of the eastern costal provinces,Fujian is,comparatively speaking,economically-developed,market-animated and private capital-rich,which makes it the country’s health reform pilot province.To answer the call of the country,Fujian Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Government have issued a series of policies concerning land,taxation,financing,health insurance and the talents to fully promote the sound development of private hospitals.This thesis takes the private hospitals of Fujian as research object and Xiamen Eye Center as the study case.Taking the policies and measures of encouraging and supporting the development of private hospitals into consideration,it explores their state of development,existing problems and reasons underneath on the basis of comparison and analysis.From the year 2009,private hospitals of the province got rapid development;however,public hospitals still dominate Fujian’s medical market.Though the advantage of enterprise management model has become increasingly prominent,private hospitals are still lagging behind in the building of hospital culture,formation of strategic development concept,and establishment of long-term planning and objective.By applying SWOT analysis method,this thesis looks into the advantages and disadvantages,opportunities and challenges of private hospitals before putting forward the selection and implementation of development strategies derived from Potter’ s theory of enterprise competition for them.Fujian’s private hospitals should give full play to their advantages,seize beneficial policies and scientifically make strategic development planning so as to realize hospitals’sound management and long-run development.
