Objective: Idiopathic scoliosis is a spine disease that we didn't have known the reason yet, which makes children suffer much pain.Firstly we injured NCC on the right side of immature rabbits, and observed their gross morphology on histological level. The purpose of this study is to find whether there is connection between NCC and scoliosis. Methods: Firstly,twenty-four 4-week-old female New Zealand white rabbits had been randomly distributed to three segments group of posterior lumbar vertebra damage, five segments group of posterior lumbar vertebra damage, seven segments group, and the sham operation group of posterior lumbar vertebra damage. The experimental groups were positioned in the left decubitus place anesthetized and, prepared and draped in a sterile fashion, expose the lateral side of vertebrae body.Rabbits were treated with two screws via basement of transverse process placed across NCC on right side from L1 to L7.In sham operation group, the same surgical approach was used to expose the anterior spinal cord, but any operation was not made on the spine, and then stitched out.Twenty-four rabbits were undertaken image studies at three months after operation. After measuring the Cobb angel in video images rabbits were put to death, then dissect rabbits' vertebral column and take gross pictures.Slide samples were made after dyeing the operational vertebral column with HE,then we made the slide samples into pictures. At last measuring and analyzing the pictures via a computer tool. Results: None of the experimental animals failed to be operated and no nerve symptoms were found. All rabbits in the posterior lumbar vertebra damage group had scoliosis.Experimental rabbits of three segments group?five segments group?and seven segments group had differences in TPD(the transverse pedicle diameter)and TPL(transverse pedicle length). The ACSP(angle between centrum and spinous process)of three segments group and five segments group was bigger than the control group. But ABP(the angle between bilateral pedicles)of three segments group and five segments group was less than the control group. Conclusion: There were connections between gross morphology and idiopathic scoliosis, including TPD,TPL and ABP.At the same time,TPD and TPL had positive correlation with the Cobb angel, but ABP had negative correlation with the Cobb angel.
