ObjectiveTo study the status of cognitive impairment of aged people in the rural areas and investigate the risk factors of aged people and the four aspect of the Abbreviated Mental Test(AMT),orientation,memory,attention and calculation,recall,to make early intervention measures on preventing the Alzheimer's disease.MethodsAdopting multistage and stratified sampling,the residents aged 60 and above in two administrative villages of Taicang were surveyed in their own homes by selfdesigned questionnaires.The questionnaire includes socio-demographic characteristics,behavior and lifestyles,disease situation,depression and cognitive function.The Abbreviated Mental Test was used for screening of cognitive impairment in the elderly,including orientation,memory,attention and calculation,recall,and the PHQ-9 was used foe screening of depression.The data entry was Epidata 3.1 and the data was analyzed with SPSS22.0 software.Using the rate and proportion to describe the general statistical description and the x ? s to describe the scores of the elderly.The risk factors of the cognitive impairment of aged people was analyzed by binary logistics regression analysis and the risk factors of the four aspects of the AMT,orientation,memory,attention and calculation,recall,was analyzed by linear-regression analysis.Results1.The status of the cognitive function of aged people in Taicang of SuzhouA total of 5531 aged people were included in this study,the number of the normal cognitive aged people was 4724,accounting for 85.41%,and the number of the aged people who have cognitive impairment was 807,accounting for 14.59%.2.The rick factors of the cognitive impairment of the aged peopleSimple factor analysis showed that female,age,depression,hypertension and stroke are the risk factors of cognitive impairment of the aged people,literates,non-peasants,non solitary state,in marriage,higher monthly income,smoking,drinking,drinking tea,watching TV,playing computer,exercise and better sleep quality are protective factors of cognitive impairment of the aged people.Multiple-factor analysis showed that female,age and depression are the risk factors of cognitive impairment of the aged people,literates,non-peasants,in marriage,higher monthly income,drinking tea,watching TV,exercise are protective factors of cognitive impairment of the aged people.3.The risk factors of the four aspects of the AMTThe average score of the orientation,memory,attention and calculation,recall of the normal cognitive aged people were 3.90?0.31,3.56?0.72,0.96?0.19,0.68?0.47.The average score of the four aspects of the people who have cognitive impairment were 3.09?0.82,1.69?0.81,0.36?0.48,0.10?0.30,and the difference of the average score of the two groups was statistically significant.Multiple factors analysis of the score of the orientation showed that the risk factors were depression,age,stroke,the protective factors were non-peasants,exercise,watching TV,literates,in marriage,drinking tea.The factors were ordered according to the influence from high to low.Multiple factors analysis of the score of the memory showed that the risk factors were age,female,depression,the protective factors were literates,watching TV,drinking tea,better sleep quality,higher monthly income,non-peasants,non solitary state,exercise.The factors were ordered according to the influence from high to low.Multiple factors analysis of the score of the attention and calculation showed that the risk factors were age,depression,female,the protective factors were literates,watching TV,in marriage,non-peasants.The factors were ordered according to the influence from high to low.Multiple factors analysis of the score of the recall showed that the risk factors were female,age,depression,relatively bad sleep quality,the protective factors were literates,watching TV,drinking,higher income.The factors were ordered according to the influence from high to low.ConclusionWe need to pay attention to the cognitive decline of the aged people,especially the age,depression,female,lower income and low education aged people.We need to make preventive measures according to the risk and protective factors of the cognitive impairment and the scores of the four aspects of the AMT of the aged people.
