Objective: To explore curative effect on patients of chronic subjective dizziness(CSD)by combination treatment of vestibular rehabilitation therapy(VRT)and cognitive-behavioral therapy(CBT).In order to provide identifiable ground for the combined therapy of CSD.Methods:54 patients of CSD induced by BPPV meeting the inclusion criteria, and were divided into the intervention group and the control group, according to the random number table.27 patients in the control group accepted only VRT twice a day for 12 weeks. At the first 4 weeks, one time a week.At the last 8 weeks, one time every two weeks.27 patients in the intervention group accepted combination treatment of VRT and CBT.The implementation of VRT in intervention group was as same as in the control group. The implementation of CBT was 60 minutes each time,8 times in 12 weeks.Treatment effects were evaluated with the dizziness handicap inventory(DHI),hospital anxiety and depression scale(HADS),and visual analogue scales(VAS).Results: There was no significant difference in baseline data between two groups. After intervention the outcome shows as follows:(1)There was significant difference in levels of anxiety and depression between two groups at all measuring times(P<0.05).(2)Patients' vertigo degree in intervention group significantly reduced compared with control group(P<0.05)at all measuring times, but except DHI-E(P>0.05).(3)The degree of pain and suffering during the onset of dizziness in both groups had lightened at 12 weeks after intervention, however, there were statistical difference between those two groups(P< 0.05).Conclusions: The study indicated that treatment efficiency of combination treatment of VRT and CBT is superior to VRT only among cases of CSD induced by BPPV.
