With the deepening of the reform of decentralization management system in china,The role of municipal governments in the vertical and horizontal structure is becoming more and more prominent. The issue of the government's supply about public goods and services within the scope of their respective administrative divisions,as well as intergovernmental competition behavior has become a hot topic in academic circles at home and abroad. There are still a lot of problems in the history of local government providing public goods. The phenomenon of the lack of local government public service capacity and the imbalance between supply and demand in different districts, can be seen in many places. And government competition by the economic performance's evaluation can be seen in many Aspects.Among them, the medical and health services as a representative of public service projects,is an important part of the protection of people's livelihood. This makes it more important and crucial to realize the equalization of medical and health services. The structure is as follows:First of all, this paper studies the influence mechanism of geographical distance on medical and health services by combing the theoretical research results of the equalization of medical and health, institutional rent and government competition.Secondly, this paper puts forward the theoretical hypothesis that institutional rent and government competition will have an impact on the health services of the prefecture level cities.Institutional rent will have such an impact on health services, namely, due to the existence of institutional rent, the region closer to superior government tends to get more financial transfer payment;Government competition will have such an impact on health services, namely, the provincial border areas of the city's supply of medical and health services will be increased from the perspective of the local government competition.Thirdly, study the mechanism of geographical distance on medical and health services by the general econometric model and spatial econometric model. The empirical results show that there is a U-shaped relationship between the local supply of medical and health services and geographic distance. The hypothesis is supported. Moreover, the robustness of the spatial panel model is tested, and the regression results are consistent with the original regression. Finally, some suggestions are put forward for the equalization of medical and health services in China.
