Therapeutic Efects Of Montelukast Combined With Vitamin D On Respiratory Syncytial Virus Bronchiolitis

Objective:To investigate the clinical effects of montelukast combined with vitamin D on the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus?RSV?bronchiolitis.Methods:212 children with bronchiolitis who tested positive for RSV by indirect immunofluorescence were randomly divided into four groups:conventional group?50?,montelukast group?53?,vitamin D group?55?and combination group?54?.The serum25 hydroxy Vitamin D₃[25?OH?D₃],cysteine leukotrienes?Cys LTs?and urinary leukotriene-E4?LTE4?levels were detected at pretreatment,3 and 7 days post-treatment,respectively;to compare respiratory symptoms,signs and the duration of hospital admission in each group.Results:Compared with the conventional group,the duration of asthma,wheezing,dyspnea and hospital admission were significantly reduced in other control groups.More specially,the clinical manifestations of the combination group were significantly better than that of montelukast group and vitamin D group.The serum 25?OH?D₃levels were significantly higher in the combination group relative to the conventional group and montelukast group.Serum Cys LTs and urine LTE4 levels were significantly lower than those in the conventional group,montelukast group and vitamin D group.Conclusion:The treatment of montelukast combined with vitamin D could shorten the course of RSV bronchiolitis,and effectively alleviate respiratory symptoms and signs.
