OBJECTIVE:Livin is a member of Inhibitor of apoptosis family proteins which plays a crucial role in the development of tumor, but it's controversial on the expression and clinical relevance of Livin in gastric cancer, this paper we systematically assessed the expression and clinical relevance of Livin in gastric cancer by the methods of meta-analysis.METHOD : Published studies regarding the expression of Livin in different pathological parameters(age, gender, differentiation, lymph node metastasis, invasion depth, tumor diameter and others)of gastric cancer from Pubmed,Embase,Corchrane library,Web of science,CBM,WanFang,CNKI database were searched(No time limit on literature).Eligible studies were selected according to the principle of quality evaluating and inclusion/exclusion criteria,meta-analysis was performed by RevMan 5.3 and STATA 14.0 software.(1)For binary variables, using odds ratio(OR)and 95% confidence interval(95% CI)to evaluate the relationship between the Livin expression and clinicopathological parameters of gastric cancer;(2)Using stata14.0 software make labbe and galbraith graph to evaluate the heterogeneity between included studies;Revman5.3 software producing funnel graph to intuitively reflect the included literature published migration;(3)Testing whether a related study out has any influences on the overall results through sensitivity analysis.RESULTS: A total of 20 studies with 1802 patients were included. Results of Meta-analysis: Livin expression in patients with poorly differentiation was higher than those with moderately and highly differentiation(OR=0.19,95% CI=0.15~0.25,P<0.05);Livin expression in patients with positively lymphnode metastasis was higher than those negatively lymph node metastasis(OR=3.15,95% CI=2.28~4.36,P<0.05);Livin expression in patients with serosa and serosa outside invasion was higher than those with only subserosa invasion(OR=2.72,95% CI=1.80~4.10,P<0.05);Livin expression in patients with diameter ?5cm higher than those diameter < 5cm(OR=1.62,95% CI=1.16~2.28,P<0.05);Livin expression in GC tissue was higher than normal tissue(OR=13.95,95%CI=8.96~21.72,P<0.05);Livin expression in GC patients at TNM ?+? stage was higher than TNM ?+? stage;Livin expression in male and female groups have no difference(OR=1.19,95%CI=0.95~1.49,P>0.05);Livin expression in patients ?60 years of age and those <60 years of age have no difference(OR=1.32,95%CI=1.00~1.74,P=0.05).CONCLUSION: Livin expression in gastric cancer is obviously related to the size of tumor, differentiation, lymph node metastasis and invasion depth et al.Livin can be used as an indicator of malignant degree and progression of gastric cancer.
