Objective: To systematically review the correlation between HDL-C level and gastric cancer. Methods: Such databases as PubMed,The Cochrane Library,Embase,China Science and Technology Journal Database,China Biology Medicine disc,China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang database were electronically searched from inception to September 1st,2016 to collect studies about the correlation between HDL-C level and gastric cancer. Two researchers independently screened literature, extracted data and assessed the studies' quality.Using Stata12.0 software for data processing. Results: Eighteen studies involving 1565 gastric cancer patients and 1495 controls were finally included. The results of meta-analysis indicated that the total HDL-C level in the gastric cancer group was much lower than in the control group(SMD=-0.90,95%CI:-1.21 to-0.59,P<0.001).In subgroup analysis, the levels of HDL-C in gastric cancer patients without surgery(SMD=-1.30,95%CI:-1.93 to-0.68),P<0.001)or between stage?-?(SMD=-1.56,95%CI:-1.89 to-1.22,P<0.001)are significantly lower than the control group. Conclusions: The level of HDL-C is related with gastric cancer, and HDL-C level is much lower in gastric cancer than in control group.HDL-C can be used as a serum marker associated with gastric cancer.
