Objectives:To investigate the early clinical effect of SuperPATH minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty(THA).Methods:A retrospective analysis was carried out in treatment of 35 patients with the application of SuperPATH minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty from April 2016 to April 2017.the incision length, operative time, blood loss and blood transfusion during the operation, perspective times, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative pain visual analogue scale(VAS),Harris hip score and patient satisfaction were observed, and the patients were followed up in 1 month、3 months、6 months and 1years after operation.Results:35 patients were followed up for 2 to 12 months(average,7.3 months). The incision length were from 6.0 to 9.3cm(average,7.6cm),the operation time of 33 cases of unilateral THA were from 63 to 183mins(average,104mins),the operation time of 2 cases of bilateral THA were 200 mins and 216 mins. The blood loss of unilateral THA cases were from 300 to 1500ml(average,624ml),and the blood loss of bilateral THA cases were 1500 ml and 2200 ml.The blood transfusion of unilateral THA cases were from 200 to 1300ml(average,563ml),and the blood transfusion of bilateral THA cases were 1200 ml and 1800 ml.The perspective times of unilateral THA cases were from 4 to 12 times(average,7 times),and the bilateral THA cases were 9 times and 13 times. As soon as patients recovered from the anaesthesia, they could move their operated legs and hip joints properly on the bed,and on the first day after operation, patients could exercise out of bed under the guidance of doctors. The days for postoperative hospital stay of unilateral THA were from 3~14 days(average,8.1days),and the days for postoperative hospital stay of bilateral THA were 7 days and 13 days. The postoperative Harris scores of all 35 patients were higher than that before operation, and gradually increased on each follow-up until 3 months after the THA,and the difference between thses data was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in Harris score from 3 months to 6 months after operation. The postoperative VAS scores of all 35 patients were higher than that before operation, and gradually increased on each follow-up until 1 months after the THA,and the difference between thses data was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in VAS score from 1 months to 6 months after operation. The hip function of all 35 patients recovered well after operation. These cases were followed up without infection, dislocation, fracture, vascular and nerve injury and other severe complications during the period, and the patients’ satisfactions were higher after the surgery. Conclusion:SuperPATH minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty has several special advantages, such as short incision, less trauma, intermuscular space approach, little damage to the surrounding muscle tissue, postoperative earlier functional exercise,no serious complications, accelerate postoperative rehabilitation etc..
