In recent years, the platelet apheresis products is widely used in clinic and the demand increasing year by year, because they own the advantage of high purity and good effect. The platelet donors in JiangXi province blood center are mainly from regularly voluntary blood donors.Until 2017,there were 52 people who have fulfilled more than 100 times of the platelet donor. Therefore,in order to organize and carry out the work of platelet donor and collection scientifically,to expand blood donor team, and constantly improve the blood quality,to guarantee the goal of usage safety of blood products, and to call people pay more attention to improve the health and iron nutritional status of blood donors(especially for many times blood donors)through enhancing correctly iron supplements and scheduling scientifically the intervals between blood donation,we carried out this research carefully. Objectives By detecting the changes of the levels of Hemoglobin(Hb),Serum ferritin(SF),Hematokrit(HCT),Red blood cell count(RBC),Mean Corpuscular Volume(MCV),Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration(MCHC)in the platelet donors, and statistically analyzing the relationship between these values and platelet donation behavior,we hope provide some references and guidances for scientific organizations of platelet donation and collection, and the health protection of platelet donors. Methods A total of 148 blood donors(167 blood donation times)were randomly selected in JiangXi province blood center,19 of whom were collected twice in succession. The platelet donors were divided into 5 groups according to the total blood donation times, which were 0 time group,1~30 time group?31~60 time group?61~99 time group??100 time group.167 blood donation times in 2017 were divided into 9 groups which were named 1 time group to 9 times group,respectively.19 repeat blood donors were divided into 1 time group and 2 times group according to the times of blood donation. We detected the level of SF by sandwich ELISA,and the values of Hb,HCT,MCV and MCHC with automatic blood cell analyzer, and we also statistically analyzed the relationships between the changes of its blood parametersand the behavior of blood donations. Results The content of SF decreased with the increase of donation times in 5groups(P < 0.01).With the increase of the total number of blood donors, the rate of iron deficiency in the regularly blood donors increased gradually, and the iron deficiency rate in the male blood donors who donated totally more than 100 times reached 67%.The content of SF between ?30 times and >30 times was statistically significant;there was no significant difference in the content of SF among three>30times groups.According to the frequency of blood donation in 2017,the blood donors were divided into 9 groups. The results showed that the increase of donation frequency lead to the content of SF decreased gradually. There was statistically significant, and the iron deficiency rate in 9 times blood donors group was as high as73%.The levels of SF?RBC?HCT?RBC in male donors of the same times blood donation group was significantly higher than that in female(P < 0.05).The iron deficiency rate in the female blood donors who donated totally more than 100 times reached 100%.MCV ? MCHC in these ? 100 times female blood donors was significantly lower than that in normal level and the decrease of Hb was statistically significant.By comparisons with the twice blood donor group, all blood parameters in 1 time blood donor group were slightly higher than 2 time group(P > 0.05).Conclusions there is a close relationship between the total times of blood donors, the frequency of blood donation, the sex of the blood donors and iron nutrition status of platelet donors.More than 30 time of male blood donors may cause iron deficiency easily; The iron deficiency ratio is obviously increased as platelet donation four times a year;Female blood donors are more likely to give rise to iron deficiency because of their own physiological characteristics than male blood donors; The levels of MCV?MCHC in female blood donors may help to exclude the potential donors who have high risk of being iron deficiency. The two donation of the same donor will not cause a significant decrease in SF within a certain interval. It is necessary to for institution to increase the testing of SF,extend the interval of blood donation for regularly donors and give correct guidance to iron supplements.
