A Quality Of Life System To Evaluate Children With Leukemia In China

Objective: The Quality of Life Scale for leukemia children of different ages,which in line with China's conditions,including economic,culture,value system,and habits,to provide scientific basis for evaluating the quality of life of children with leukemia,and to improve the quality of life.Methods: The item pool was based on the evaluation contents of children's quality of life(Peds QL)of WHO,the general and the cancer module of Peds QLTM.We also used literature analysis,interviews and group discussions to develop the item pool.We choose children oncologists,psychological experts and rehabilitation specialists from seven regions nationwide through two rounds of Delphi Method.We also use Excel 2007 and SPSS 19 software to statistic data and proportional distribution method to determine the weights of indicators at all levels.Then the official version scale formed by test which studying the scales' reliability,validity.We also investigate whether the language expression is clear and consistent with the actual situation of 500 leukemia children by test.Then according to the test results,modify the initial scale to form the official version.Results:1.The two rounds consultation questionnaire recovery rate was 96.77% and 100%.The effective rates were 100% respectively.The results show that the experts have higher enthusiasm.The authority coefficient of experts was 0.75 and the Kendall's coefficient P<0.01 for both rounds.The results show that the results are consistent.2.All the ages scales' Cronbach alpha coefficient >0.9 and content validity>0.75.The results showed that there is a high correlation between each index and its field.The test has good coordination,P<0.01.The scale of the language is clear,and children or parents are easy to understand.3.In second rounds of experts in various indicators of the importance of the assignment based to calculate the index weight by proportional distribution method,the first index weights are 0.201,0.203,0.198,0.201,and 0.198 respectively.4.The Quality of Life system for leukemia children of different ages includes: First item,2~4years old 4,5~7 years old,8~12 years old,13~18 years old 5 respectively.Secondary items: 2~4 years of age 9,the other ages 12 and third items which includes 2~4 years of age 29,5~7 years of age 40,8~12 years of age 42,13~18 years of age 44.Conclusion: The scales have relatively strong operability,high reliability and validity.They can be used to evaluate and improve the leukemia children's quality of life,and provide a reference for other developing countries to evaluate the quality of children with leukemia survive.
