Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the psychological state of the patients with recurrent spontaneous abortion(RSA)by using the self-rating anxiety Scale(SAS)and self-rating depression scale(SDS),and to provide theoretical basis for improving the mental health status and pregnancy outcome of RSA patients.Method: 133 RSA females as an observational group and 120 childbearing-age females without RSA history as a control group were collected. All participants visited the doctors in the reproductive center of Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University form October 2015 to October 2016.SAS and SDS were used to evaluate the anxiety and depression of participants in two groups. The symptoms of anxiety and depression in the two groups were recorded and examined.20 items corresponding common symptoms of SAS and SDS were statistically analyzed. The correlation between Social demographic characteristics and anxiety and depression symptoms in patients with RSA was discussed. Results: 266 questionnaires were issued,in which 253 were recovered, the effective recovery rate is 95%.In the observational group(133 cases),71 cases(53.38%)had anxiety symptoms and 42 cases(31.58%)had depression symptoms,40 cases(30.07%)had both of anxiety and depression symptoms.However,17 cases(14.17%)had anxiety symptoms,7cases(5.83%)had depression symptoms, and no cases have coexisting of anxiety and depressive symptoms in 120 cases of control group. The depression scores(47.01±8.82)and anxiety scores(46.41±12.12)of patients in the observation group were significantly higher than the depression scores(44.20±5.73)and anxiety scores(41.11±8.42)of patients in the control group(P <0.01).Based on the frequency of the symptoms,20 items corresponding symptoms shown on SAS were classified to the "considerable time","most of the time" and "all the time",the top five symptoms of patients with RSA were: stomachache and dyspepsia(66%),physical pain(58%),unfortunate feeling(56%),anxiety(50%),frequent urination(41%).On the depression self-rating scales, the top five symptoms of recurrent spontaneous abortion were decreased ability(50%),depression(48%),irritability(47%),akathisia(46%),inappetence(44%).The mean frequencies of the corresponding 20 symptoms of SAS and SDS were compared in the two groups, the results showed that nine items(anxiety, panic, unfortunate sensation, physical pain, akathisia, palpitations, stomachache and indigestion, frequent micturition, sleep disorders)in SAS were significantly different.8 items(depression, easy to tear, inappetence, constipation, diminished ability, anxiety, irritability, loss of libido)have significantly different in SDS.The positive rates of anxiety symptoms had disparities in RSA patients with different social demographic characteristics, while the positive rates of depressive symptoms were obviously different in RSA patients except for ages and household registration locations.Correlation analysis showed that the level of education, numbers of pregnancy losses and the SAS scores were positively correlated with depression. The level of education, numbers of pregnancy losses, age, and SDS score were positively correlated with anxiety, while average income of family members per month and household registration locations were negatively correlated with anxiety and depression. Conclusion: The incidence of anxiety and depression in patients with RSA was higher, especially among those featuring frequent miscarriage, higher education, low economic ability, the older and the rural household registration.Clinicians should pay attention to the mental conditions of patients with RSA who had these sociodemographic characteristics.Recurrent spontaneous abortion patients are prone to stomachache and indigestion, body pain, unfortunate feeling,a sense of anxiety, frequent micturition, decreased ability, depression, irritability, easy to fatigue, loss of appetite and other symptoms. In the follow-up psychological counseling and health education for RSA patients,we should give the corresponding psychological care to the above symptoms.
