Objective: To make a study on the nasal maxillary complex of patients with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate by analysis the images of cone beam computed tomography.Explore the similarities and differences between its symmetry points, thus further reveal the craniofacial morphology characteristics of patients with UCLP in mixed dentition, and provide better theory foundation for the clinical treatment of orthodontic. Methods: 20 patients with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate were selected as the experimental group.20 patients without cleft lip and palate were selected as the control group.Cone Beam CT scans of all subjects were reconstructed in MIMICS 17.0 software.34 landmarks were identified on the three-dimensional image, such as LPA,INM,Maz,SPM.A three-dimensional coordinate system was established. The line distance of the two groups of patients in nasal maxillary complex were measured by MIMICS17.0.Measurements were analyzed in SPSS 22.0.Comparing the symmetry of the nasal maxillary complexes on the cleft side and the non-cleft side of patients in the experimental group and analyzing growth difference between the two sides. The control group was also compared.Results:1.Symmetry of nasomaxillary complex in horizontal directionMaxillary width in LPA and unilateral dental arch width in SPr on the cranny side were larger than those on the non-cranny side, while nasal maxillary complex width in INM and unilateral dental arch width in SPC on the cranny side were smaller than those on the non-cranny side, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The measured values of the control group for each side have no significant statistical difference(P> 0.05).2.Symmetry of nasomaxillary complex in sagittal directionThe development of maxillary in sagittal direction in LPA,Maz and SPr on the cranny side was poorer than that on the non-cranny side, the positions in SPM and SPC leaned forward compared with those on the non-cranny side, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The measured values of the control group for each side have no significant statistical difference(P > 0.05).3.Symmetry of nasomaxillary complex in vertical directionMaxillary height in LPA and INM and maxillary height in Maz on the cranny side were larger than those on the non-cranny side, while maxillary height in SPC and SPr on the cranny side were smaller than those on the non-cranny side, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The measured values of the control group for each side have no significant statistical difference(P> 0.05).Conclusion:1.The nasal maxillary complex of patients in mixd dentition with cleft lip and palate has asymmetry, and the asymmetry mainly concentrates in the nasal cavity and alveolar bone.2.The nasal maxillary complex of patients in mixd dentition without cleft lip and palate has no obvious asymmetry.
