In the clinical work,adult humeral shaft fracture is a common fracture type.There are 2 methods to treat humeral shaft fracture that surgical treatment and conservative treatment.Plate and screw for open reduction and internal fixation has been the gold standard of treatment in humeral shaft fracture.However,in recent years minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis(MIPO)has been widely applied to clinical treatment of humeral shaft fracture.In MIPO,the metal bone fracture plate should be placed through the tunnel under the muscle and in front of humerus.The metal bone fracture plate have been placed across the fracture line in order to protect the nutrition and blood supply maximumly.Meanwhile,that can avoid iatrogenic radial nerve injury occurred.MIPO technology has the advantages of simple operation,high safety,high fracture healing rate,low incidence of radial nerve injury,postoperative shoulder elbow joint activity is not limited and less complications.Therefore,MIPO is a safe and effective surgical method for the treatment of humeral shaft fractures,that worth generalizing.In this paper,fracture patients treated with the minimally invasive to prove the feasibility,effectiveness and safety,and the treatment of humeral shaft fractures with MIPO are further reviewed.
