Objective:To investigate the public's knowledge and awareness of food safety through the questionnaire survey,summarize the problems of China's food safety education during the development and put forward some suggestions aiming at those problems and imperfections,the paper tried to provide references for perfecting food safety education system and improving the physical and mental health of the public.Methods:1.Historical literature:Based on the last and classical literatures,books and documents of food safety education,the paper clarified the development process of China's food safety education and summarized the advanced experience in promoting food safety education,which build a basic research background for this study.2.Questionnaire Survey:This questionnaire survey was conducted during December 2015 to March 2016.Adopted the multistage stratified random sampling methods.Firstly,the whole country was divided into north China,northeast,northwest,east China,central south and southwest 6regions,and randomly selected 10 counties(or districts,county-level cities,etc.)in each region;Secondly,according to the local rural/urban population proportion,at least surveyed 70 respondents Among the 60 samples in every county,district or county-level city.Finally,a total of 4,380 people were surveyed.The investigators were trained by the professional teachers before the investigation.This paper aimed at revealing the public's knowledge,attitude and behavior of food additives,and the information demand of food safety through the questionnaire survey.3.SWOT Analysis:Through the analysis on the disadvantages by using the SWOT analysis method,the paper analyzed the external opportunities and threats considering the status of food safety education in China in order to summarize the hidden problems and challenges,made the future development strategy.which provided basis for the improvement of China's food safety education policy recommendations.Results:1.The results of the questionnaire survey showed that 73.15% of the respondents highly concerned about food additives.Opposition to the use of food additives accounted for 55.48%.Nearly 80% of respondents felt confused in the concept of food additives and the illegal additives.Only 21.46% of the respondents would check the food additives label;"TV shows","mobile phones" and "official news" are the main channels for the public access to the information of food additives;The demands of food safety nutrition knowledge and food safety knowledge are ranked the top two in the survey.2.According to the results of SWOT analysis,it can be seen that there are still some problems to be improved in China's food safety education system.For instance,were the lack of a complete system from legal education research,the weak existence of government administrative dominant function,the lack of laws and regulations,the incomplete food safety education system,the unclear content of education goals and plans,and the relatively simple food safety education system.Conclusion:The results of the questionnaire survey showed that the respondents' cognitivepattern were in “high concern,low awareness,strong opposition,weak behavior”.The public's information demand of food safety is far higher than the past.In order to promote the development of food safety education in China,we can see that WO strategy is more suitable according to the SWOT analysis.Therefore,the government should base on a complete food safety education system in Law-Education-Research.To build legal system,to improve the education system and to establish research system.
