ObjectiveTo make SWOT analysis by exploring the Master of Nursing Specialist students' current status of clinical practice and comparing the differences in the professional competence,the perception of the clinical practice environment and the pressure in clinical practice between different source,different grade and different clinical practice time of the Master of Nursing Specialist students.MethodsUsing qualitative research and quantitative research methods.Quantitative study was conducted by questionnaires,investigating 120 Master of Nursing Specialist students in clinical practice stage from 10 different colleges in China by using questionnaires.The results are analyzed by SPSS 17.0,we use the results analyzed based on the three questionnaires to generalize students' strength and weakness in clinical practice,opportunities the clinical environment gives them and the threats they suffer in clinical practice.We choose the mean and the standard deviation etc.to describe the results and the normal information.The differences are compared by T test,ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis H nonparametric test.Using in-depth interviews with 12 Master of Nursing Specialist students to understand their basic clinical practice in qualitative research.Results1.The aspect of professional competence(S,W):Students are generally good at humanistic accomplishment,clinical nursing ability,researching ability and the ability of communication and cooperation.Students' educational capacity,professional development ability and management ability is weaker.The clinical nursing ability,communication and cooperation,management ability and educational capacity of students having clinical work experience is stronger(t=2.23-4.17,P < 0.05).The professional development ability of the fresh graduates is better(t=2.23,P=0.028).With the increase of grade,students' professional humanistic accomplishment,clinical nursing ability,scientific research ability and educational ability enhancement(F=3.91-24.65,P <0.05).With the extension of clinical practice time,students' clinical nursing ability,scientific research ability,communication and coordination ability,professional development ability,educational ability and management ability have a certain degree of enhancement(F/H=14.95-47.20,P<0.001).2.The aspect of clinical practice environment(O):In the nursing clinical learning environment scale,the working atmosphere and team spirit,task orientation and student participation in the three dimensions of the highest score,indicating that the students are relatively satisfied with these three aspects.There is no significant difference of the above dimensions between the students of different Source and grade(t/F=0.60-3.68,P=0.080-0.552).Students with long clinical practice have better evaluation of task orientation and student participation(F/H=21.33-38.62,P <0.001).3.The aspect of the pressure in clinical practice(T):The stress of work-related,workload and learning and work conflict are the level of moderate,but compared to other dimensions,they are the three highest scores,the greatest degree of threat to the students.The aspects of work-related and learning and work conflict are more serious for the students of fresh,primary level and having shorter clinical practice time(P<0.05).4.In addition,the workload poses a greater degree of threat to junior students(F=4.79,P=0.010).ConclusionsStudents are generally good at humanistic accomplishment,clinical nursing ability,researching ability and the ability of communication.students' educational capacity,professional development ability and management ability are weaker.Students generally think the working atmosphere and team spirit,task orientation and student participation are better.The stress of work-related,workload and learning and work conflict are the greatest degree of threat to the students.In addition,different source of students,different grades and different clinical practice time students have some differences in the above aspects,it should be carried out after the balance of personalized clinical practice to develop strategies.
