Objective:To study the effect of repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation(r PMS)on the submandibular muscles in post-stroke patients with dysphagia during subacute stage.Methods:40 subacute post-stroke patients with dysphagia were selected in the study which were numembered from 1 to 40.And they were randomly allocated two groups, treatment group and conventional group.Treatment group were given conventional swallowing treatment combined with r PMS,and the control group were given only conventional swallowing treatment. We compare the change of swallow function 2 weeks later:seriousness of the swallow disorders(STWD),Saitoh Seven Stage Scale(SSSS),and the surface electromyographic signals, and the swallowing duration and maximal amplitude are estimated. Results:We found that the swallow function of both groups improved after 2 weeks of therapy. To compare innergroups:the STWD increased and the SSSS improved variously(P<0.05)and the amplitude increased and the swallow duration shortenedin each group after 2weeks of treatment(P<0.05).To compare intragroups:Both the STWD and the SSSS improved has significant differences between two groups(P<0.05).The treatment group in change of swallowing duration has a significant difference from the control group(P=0.005),but there is no significant difference in the change of the maximal amplitude(P=0.352).Conclusions : The treatment of rPMS combined with conventional swallowing treatment can help post-stroke patients with dysphagia improve the function of swallowing, and shorten the swallowing time.It may be chosen as a good new method in regulating the harmony and flexibility of the swallowing muscles by clinical doctors.
