Object: This study aims to discover the optimal regimen for cancer pain therapy by means of observing the difference of efficacy, improvement of living quality, amount of consumption,side-effect and impact on immune system between the combination therapy of opioids and gabapentin and single-agent therapy.Method: Prospective data of 80 patients with cancer pain from medium to maximum in Qinghai hospital were collected. The patients enrolled were randomly separated into group A and B where they were treated according to the standard regimen(morphine for titration, oxicodone for maintainance).Gabapentin was added into the regimen for group B(300mg,tid,po).The difference of efficacy, improvement of living quality, amount of consumption,side-effect and impact on immune system between the two therapies was assessed and analyzed.Results:(1)The NRS score of both groups dropped. The decline degree of group B was significantly higher than that of group A(P<0.05).Improvement of living quality of both groups rose. The increase degree of group B was significantly higher than that of group A(P<0.05).The amount of medical consumption of group B was significantly lower than that of group A.The side-effects were similar in both groups. The incidence of constipation, nausea and vomiting for group B was significantly lower than that of group A(P<0.05).The function of immune system was improved in all patients enrolled.Furthermore, the immune function was significantly higher in group B(P<0.05).Conclusions: 1.Combination of opioids and gabapentin would be superior than single-agent in efficacy, improvement of living quality, amount of consumption,side-effect.2.Standard therapy for cancer pain is capable of promoting patient's immune function.Combination of opioids and gabapentin would be more effective on the promotion.
