Objective: To evaluate the difference of human serum inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6,IL-10 and TNF-?,between indoor and outdoor PM2.5 exposure groups, and find out the link between PM2.5 exposure and inflammation response.Further more, the effectiveness of taking some measures to deal with PM2.5 was speculated. Methods: Healthy population in the physical examination center of HeBei general hospital between October and December 2015 were divided into two groups.Office workers were indoor group while bus drivers were outdoor group. The interviewees were asked to complete a questionnaire. The items contained gender, age, smoking status, living environment,PM2.5 exposure time and protective measures. The serum levels of IL-6,IL-10,TNF-? were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(Elisa). Results: 1 The characters between indoor group and outdoor group: Indoor group contained 88 persons,69 males(78.4%),19 females(21.6%);the average age was 46.2±3.31 years old;there were 48 current smokers(54.5%).Outdoor group contained 90 persons,73 males(81.1%),17 females(18.9%);the average age was 46.6±3.33 years old;there were 52 current smokers(57.8%).There were no significant differences on gender rate(?2=0.201,P=0.654),age(t=?0.750,P=0.454),smoking status(?2=0.189,P=0.664)between two groups. Most of them lived in urban areas. In indoor group,81 lived in urban(92%),3 in outer suburbs(3.4%),4 in suburbs(4.5%);In outdoor group,76 lived in urban(84.4%),9 in outer suburbs(10%),5 in suburbs(5.6%).Some protective measures were taken, for example, using air cleaner, closing the doors and windows on haze day, wearing masks.40 in indoor group took protective measures(45.5%)versus 32 in outdoor group(35.6%).There were not significant difference on living environment(?2=3.204,P=0.192)and the rate of taking protective measures(?2=1.810,P=0.179)between the two groups;2 Whole year PM2.5 concentration in Shi Jiazhuang and outdoor exposure time: average daily concentration of PM2.5 in 2015 in Shi Jiazhuang was 71?g/m3(6~391 ?g/m3).Average daily outdoor time was 2 hours in indoor group(1~6 hours),10 hours in outdoor group(8~13 hours).Outdoor group spent more time outside than indoor group(Z=?11.634,P=0.000);3 Serum IL-6 levels between indoor group and outdoor group: Average serum IL-6 levels were 3.94±0.48 pg/ml,17.05±2.30 pg/ml separately in indoor group and outdoor group.Serum IL-6 levels was higher in outdoor group than in indoor group(t=?52.925,P=0.000);4 Serum IL-10 levels between indoor group and outdoor group: average serum IL-10 levels were 3.27±0.51 pg/ml,22.39±1.62 pg/ml separately in indoor group and outdoor group.Serum IL-10 levels was higher in outdoor group than in indoor group(t=?106.904,P=0.000);5 Serum TNF-? levels between indoor group and outdoor group: Average serum TNF-? levels were 25.24±2.15 pg/ml,106.13±9.27 pg/ml separately in indoor group and outdoor group.Serum TNF-? levels was higher in outdoor group than in indoor group(t=?80.618,P=0.000).Conlusions: Outdoor group, higher PM2.5 exposure group, has higher levels of serum IL-6,IL-10,TNF-? than indoor group.Increased inflammatory reaction may be connected with PM2.5 exposure.Health benefits may be obtained by reducing outdoor exposure time.
