Objective: Metabolic Syndrome(MS)is an complex syndrome, composed of a variety of metabolic abnormalities, characterized by metabolic disorder.Metabolic syndrome, which greatly increases the incidence of diabetes, cardiovascular and other diseases, has become focus of attention across the world.Recently,as MS is understood more deeply,an increasing number of researches have showed that neck circumference is correlated with MS.The research is aimed to explore the feasibility and value of NC predicting the MS and determine the optimal cut-off point of NC predicting the MS.Method: 809 people, who had physical check-ups in Xingtai People's Hospital Medical Examination Center from June,2016 to November,2016 and appropriately documented, were analyzed. The general conditions of all patients, including gender, age, profession case history, physical measurement indices(height, weight, blood pressure,NC,WC),BMI,laboratory parameters(GLU,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C,TC,ALT,AST,Cr,UA),were well documented. The above datas were analyzed via SPSS 17.0.Results:1 Among the 809 research targets, the overall relevance ratio was 19.16%while the relevance ratio was 22.37% in males and 16.43% in females. The relevance ratio in males is higher than females and the difference had statistical significance. The relevance ratios of MS in males and females both increased as their ages rose.2 The average weight,BMI,WC,systolic pressures, diastolic blood pressures,TG increased as the quartile of NC rose in males and females. The difference had statistical significance.3 NC>38.5cm in males and NC>34.5cm in females can be used asoptimal cut-off points for predicting MS.Conclusion:1 Increased neck circumference is closely related to the pathogenesis of the metabolic syndrome, which is helpful to early predict and prevent metabolic syndrome.2 NC>38.5cm in males and NC>34.5cm in females can be used as optimal cut points for predicting MS.
