Objective During nasotracheal intubation guided by visual soft lens,compare the difficulties and complications,respectively using Wire Reinforced tracheal tube,Block Buster tracheal tube or PVC tracheal tube.Methods One hundred and fifty adults,with American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA)physical status?~III,aged 18~65 years,and scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia requiring orotracheal intubation,were randomized to undergo NTI with either a Wire Reinforced tracheal tube(WR;n=50),Block Buster tracheal tube(BB;n=50),or PVC tracheal tube(PVC;n=50).Patients with a history of nasal or thoracic surgery,upper airway abnormality,serious epistaxis,coagulopathy or a history of Nasotracheal intubation,were excluded from the study.After anesthesia induction and nasotracheal intubation guided by visual soft lens,the time of intubation,success rate,the resistance were observed and compared,when tubes inset nasal and glottis,also the method and time of adjustment,or complications.Results There was no statistical difference in demographic data and intubation conditions of the three groups.During the nasotracheal intubation,the intubation success rate(92%,92%,86% respectively)and the postoperative complications of WR,BB or PVC group has no statistical difference.During passing the tube from the nostril into the pharynx,the duration time of BB group and WR group is short than PVC group;Blockbuster tube and Wire Reinforced tube was better than PVC tube in Blood at cuff and injury score,while there were not significantly difference between Wire Reinforced tube and Blockbuster tube;the modified difficulty scale of nasal intubation was significantly lower for the Block Buster tube than the PVC tube or Wire Reinforced tube,but there was not difference between Block Buster tube,Wire Reinforced tube or the PVC tube.The incidence of no difficult tube passage was much less for the Block Buster tube compared with the PVC tube.The rest of the data was no difference.Conclusions During visual soft lens-guided nasotracheal intubation in patients with normal airways,the injury and complications of PVC tubes is much more serious than Block Buster tubes.Block Buster tubes can act as an effective alternative to Wire Reinforced tracheal tubes.
