Analysis Of Prevalence And Related Factors Of Cataract Among Residents Aged 50 Years And Above In WuShan County

Objectives: 1.To investigate the prevalence of cataract among people aged 50 years and above,and to compare the prevalence between different age groups and different gender in WuShan County,Gansu Province.2.To analysis related factors of cataract among people aged 50 years and above,by Ophthalmology related inspection and questionnaire,and to provide the foundation for the prevention and treatment of cataract for WuShan County.Methods: Using the the method of stratified random cluster sampling,randomly selected from two towns from the towns of WuShan and two villages from the administrative villages.Do the ophthalmology check for qualified people,including the vision examination,intraocular pressure measurement,optometry,the examination of anterior segment and posterior segment of eyes,and then fill the questionnaire,the questionnaire including general case(age,gender,occupation,nation,education,income),healthy habits(smoking,alcohol using,tea drinking,cooking,heating,household water,video exposure time),and the history of chronic(diabetes,hypertension,rheumatism),then our investigators help participants to fill in the questionnaire of cataract.Use Epidata3.1 for data entry,using SPSS16.0 for statistical analysis,among them,the single factor analysis are carried out with chi-square test and the multiple factors are carried out with logistic regression analysis.Results: The cataract prevalence of this area was 39.1%.Among them,the male was 39.1%,39.2% for women.The cataract prevalence among people aged from 50 to 59 was 12.4%,among people aged from 60 to 69 was 48.1%,among people aged from 70 to 79 was 76.1%,prevalence of people aged 80 years old and above is 91.8%.As the growth of the age,the prevalence also gradually rise.Logistic regression results show that the urban and rural areas,cultural level,age,video exposure time,smoking,smoking history were for cataract related factors.Among them,living in the country,higher cultural level is the protective factors for cataracts,then living in the city,illiteracy,age increasing,smoking,longer smoking history were risk factors for cataracts.Conclusions: The prevalence of cataract prevalence among people aged 50 years and above has been at a higher level in WuShan County,Gansu Province.As the growth of the age,the prevalence of cataract.Living in the country,higher cultural level is the protective factors for cataracts,then living in the city,illiteracy,age increasing,smoking,longer smoking history were risk factors for cataracts.
