Clinical Study On The Interfering Effects Of The Therapeutic Principle By Qi-boosting Toxin-resolving Yin-nourishing In The Rehabilitation Course Of Patients With Treated Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Objectives:To investigate the interfering effects of the therapeutic principle by Qi-Boosting Toxin-Resolving Yin-Nourishing(QBTRYN),in terms of TCM,in the rehabilitation course of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients following the treatment of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in a comparative way to evaluate its influence on such indicators as tumor recurrence rate,survival time and their quality of life.Methods:This study was carried out in two groups of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)following radiotherapy and or chemotherapy,i.e.those received regular herbal medicine therapy basedc on the principles of Qi-Boosting Toxin-Resolving Yin-Nourishing as treating group(TG)composed of 65 cases and those only given routine therapy as control group(CG),in a way of paired design in a ratio of 1:1.The patients in TG were given herbal medicine therapy periodically during the whole period of following up.Then,all of the patients were evaluated for such indicators as social demographic information collected before and after treatment,clinical materials,close follow-up patients recover healing process.At any time through telephone survey and(or)the outpatient service ways to local lesion with recurrence and metastasis,survival time,and with QOL(tumor patient's quality of life score)scale assess the patient's quality of life.Applicating SPSS 17.0 statistical software package to analysis the statistical significance of two groups,evaluate the influence of the rehabilitation process,the nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients with the intervention of Qi-Boosting Toxin-Resolving Yin-Nourishing method after radiotherapy treat.Results:The general data and control group(age,education fixed number of year,by male/female,urban/rural,family history of nasopharyngeal carcinoma radiotherapy,number to time,in combination with chemotherapy number),There are no significant difference compared,two groups of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients with clinical and pathologic stage type strictly matching the premise condition is,The experimental group and control group follow-up investigation when ratings,two groups of QOL tumor recurrence during the survey period time,five years,10 years and average recurrence above the average survival with significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusions:Qi-Boosting Toxin-Resolving Yin-nourishing intervention therapy can significantly improve QOL scores,extend recurrence time,reduce 5 year-recurrence rate,and elevate 10 year-survival rate of NPC cases in observation group following thrie focus treated by radiotherapy.
