Objective:To analyze the relationship between sex, age, tumor location, clinical stage, differentiation degree, mode of operation, adjuvant chemotherapy, peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets and prognosis of colon cancer, and try to establish a more reasonable and perfect prognosis evaluation system in colon cancer.Method:The clinical data of 505 patients with colon cancer who were newly diagnosed and surgery at Yunnan Cancer Hospital from January 2002 to December 2011 were retrospectively collected. All these patients were confirmed as colonic adenocarcinoma by postoperative pathology. A total of 325 patients were followed up by telephone .Chi square test, single factor log-rank test and COX multivariate regression analysis were used for statistical analysis between gender, age, tumor location, clinical stage, degree of differentiation, surgery (radical surgery and palliative surgery), adjuvant chemotherapy, the level of peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets (CD3~+T cells,CD4~+T cells,CD8+T cells and CD4~+/CD8+ ratio)and the prognosis of colon cancer patients.Result:1. 1,3, and 5 year survival rates of the patients with colon cancer were accounted respectively as follows: 83.7%, 71.1%, 65.1%.2. The levels of CD3~+,CD4~+,CD8+T cell subsets in patients with different age and clinical stage were significantly different, but there was no significant difference in different gender, tumor location and differentiation.3. Patients with colon cancer who had later clinical stage , poor degree of tumor differentiation, and had not received radical resection and adjuvant chemotherapy had a shorter overall survival, which were consistent with previous reports both at home and abroad.4. Our retrospective study also suggested that the patients with lower the level of CD4~+T lymphocyte often had shorter survival; while the level of CD3~+, CD4~+,CD8+T lymphocyte subsets and the ratio of CD4~+/CD8+ changes were unrelated with survivals of the patients with colon cancer. Conclusion:Clinical stage, degree of tumor differentiation, mode of operation, adjuvant chemotherapy, and CD4~+T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood were all independent prognostic factors for colon cancer. The combined evaluation of the above indexes can help us to predict the prognosis and guide the treatment of colon cancer.
