Establishment Of Training Standard And Methods Of First-aid For Combatants At The Battle Field

In the modern warfare,resulted from the improvement of weapon power,the advancement of treatment and the strengthening of individual armor,there is a downward trend to mortality of combat injury,while a further work should be done to reduce the casualties in the warfare.Killed in action(KIA)is the most important part of combat casualty,accounted for 90% of case fatality rate,and 15% to 25% of KIA can be saved by timely and correct treatments in the battlefield,known as "potential survivors(PS)",whose main factors include bleeding,airway obstruction,pneumothorax,etc.The combatants that are the soldiers without medical education experience in the battle field are often the first discoverers of casualties,who participate in first aid of battlefield can further enhance the success rate of treatment.Based on the epidemiological characteristics of casualty in modern warfare,this paper analyzes the demand situation of combatants' first aid in the battlefield,and combining with the recent research progress of treatment technology and training methods in foreign armies and the development of our army,we develop combat casualty care training equipment for first-aid training,and then set up the training standards and methods for combatants.There are two main aspects can be illustrated as follows:Firstly,according to the epidemiological characteristics of battlefield casualty in modern warfare,analyzing the needs of first aid in the battlefield,focusing on potential survivors,setting out the list of battlefield first aid technology for our army's combatants:1.Focusing on the care of bleeding,airway obstruction and p neumothorax in the battlefield.2.Identifying shock in the battlefield.3.Prevention of hypothermia.4.Use of hard goggles to protect the eyes.5.Use of oral antibiotics and painkillers.6.Use of splints to fix long bone fractures.7.Binding up the surface of burn.8.Casualty handling.9.Organizing evacuation and prevention of combat stress reactions(commanders).Secondly,according to the recent research progress of treatment technology and training methods,combining the situation of first aid in the battlefield of our army,setting up the training standards for combatants' first aid and redacting the specialized training material,named “Teaching Implementation and Testing Methods for First Aid of Combatants”,and then developing series of wearable combat first-aid training equipment and evaluating the effect of first-aid training courses by the application of them in the Army Officer Academy of PLA.
