[Objective]To definite the value of preoperative cardiopulmonary exercise test on predicting anesthesia risk for patients with esophageal carcinoma and find the evaluation index which has clinical significance.[Methods]Cardiopulmonary exercise test was performed in patients with esophageal carcinoma preoperatively.Observe and record the patients'preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative clinical data.Caculate the postoperative complications within 7 days.Logistic regression analysis was used to find out the most valuable index for predicting the risk of anesthesia.[Results]A total of 65 patients were enrolled in this study. The mean age of the patients was(59±12)years old, with males 54(83%).Postoperative complications occurred in 30(46.2%)patients.Multi factor logistic regression analysis showed that the anaerobic threshold(Anaerobic Threshold,AT)(OR=0.463,95%CI=0.244-0.880,P=0.019),peak oxygen uptake(Peak V02)(OR=1.694,95%CI?1.177-2.437,P=0.005),the rate of peak oxygen uptake(OR=0.929,95%CI=0.864-0.999,P=0.048)on the prediction of esophageal cancer patients after surgery and anesthesia complications are very valuable.[Conclusion]The incidence of postoperative complications was high in patients with esophageal carcinoma undergoing surgery.Anaerobic threshold(AT),peak oxygen uptake(peakV02)and the rate of peak oxygen uptake were independent predictors of postoperative complications in patients with esophageal carcinoma.
