Objective: To investigate whether the stage ?B cervical cancer patients are required to have a consolidation chemotherapy, and what clinical pathological features are required for the patient to undergo consolidation chemotherapy. Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 154 patients with stage ?B cervical carcinoma who were treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from 2007 to December 2011.Subgroup analyses were performed with or without chemotherapy. The statistical Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate the survival rate of 5 years, and the Log-rank test was used to screen the factors which were significantly correlated with COX.Results: Multivariate analysis of the overall sample of stage ?B cervical cancer showed that consolidation chemotherapy was not an independent prognostic factor. The subgroup analysis showed that the consolidation chemotherapy is the independent influencing factor of the stage ?B cervical cancer patients with the clinical features of lymph node enlargement and maximal tumor diameter less than 5.5cm,and the consolidation chemotherapy is a protective factor for such patients. Conclusion: Conclusion chemotherapy may improve the prognosis of the stage ?B cervical cancer patients with the clinical features of lymph node enlargement.Consolidation chemotherapy may be associated with the tumor size, but a larger sample of cases is required to confirm the analysis.
