OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical features and treatment outcomes of 25 outpatient children with Eosinophilia and provide help and evidence for clinical doctor in treatment strategy of Eosinophilia.METHODS: the clinical data of 25 children with eosinophilia in the outpatient department of Pediatrics of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University during the period of January 2013 to January 2017 were retrospectively analyzed.Employing SPSS version 20.0 software was used for statistical analysis.RESULTS:1.Among 25 cases, there were 18 boys and 7 girls, the sex ratio was2.57:1.25.They aged range from 2 to 13 years old, with a median age of 5.8years.2.The number of eosinophils increased slightly in 3 cases(12%),moderately in 12 cases(48%),and severely in 10 cases(40%).The severity of eosinophils was unrelated with gender and age(P>0.05).3.The pathogeny included infection in 6 cases(24%),irritability urticaria in2 cases(8%),and unknown in 17 cases.Among 6 cases of infection, there were1 cases of EB virus infection(4%),and 5 cases of infection(20%).The parasite pathogen included hookworm in 2 cases, blastocystis in 1 case, and unknown in2 cases(clinically diagnosed only).4.Among 25 cases,17 had skin manifestations(68%),9 had systemic manifestation.Respiratory system and digestive system performance occurred in8 cases(32%)and 5 cases(20%),respectively.5.The peripheral blood eosinophil count of 25 cases ranged from 1.1 to25.84×109/L,with an average count of 8.30×109/L,and the white blood cell count increased significantly in 17 cases(68%).6.Five cases of parasitic infection received anthelmintic treatment, and 4cases obtained satisfactory results after one month. Two patients with allergic diseases had been treated with desloratadine, and the symptoms and peripheral blood eosinophils had been relieved.Seven children received prednisone monotherapy, and 6 children acquired effective results(85.7%).Nine cases desloratadine treatment, and only 2 children acquired effective results. Two children were given prednisone combined with cyclosporine, prednisone combined with compound glycyrrhizin treatment, respectively, and had accesses to PR.Six patients who had poor efficacy changed the treatment program,4cases were treated with prednisone and the effect was improved.2 patients were treated with imatinib,1 of whom received CR at 6 months after imatinib, and the other 1 received PR at 2 months after administration of imatinib combined with prednisone.CONCLUSIONS:1.The incidence of eosinophilia in mele was more than that in female, and preschool children were more common, followed by early childhood.2.Eosinophilia was more common in the skin, followed by digestivesystem and respiratory system, but clinical manifestations is lack of specificity.3.Most children with eosinophilia are effective in the treatment of prednisone.4.If eosinophilia in children with glucocorticoid treatment is invalid,we may consider treatment with imatinib.
