Bioassay-guided fractionation of a CH2Cl2 layer of the ethanolic extract of Actinidia arguta(Sieb.et Zucc.)Planch.roots by chromatographic methods led to isolation of eight compounds 1-8.The structure of compounds 1-8 was elucidated on the basis of physicochemical and spectroscopic methods, including 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral techniques, namely dinonyl phthalate(1),d-amyrenone(2),3?-hydroxy-lup-20(29)-ene-28-oic acid(3),ursolic acid(4),dihydrodehy-drodiconiferyl alcohol(5),oleanolic acid 28-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(6),3?-hydroxy-olea-12-en-28-oic acid(7)and ?-sitosterol(8).To the best of our knowledge, compounds 2 and 5 are the first isolation from this plant Among these compounds,3,4 and 8 exhibited strong cytotoxicities against cultured human carcinoma cell lines such as Hep G2 and HeLa cells with IC50 values of 9.16,5.34,6.22 ?M and 6.25,8.76,13.17 ?M,respectively. |
