ObjectiveThis study is designed to detect the expression of KRT80 (Cytokeratin-80) in non-small cell lung cancer by immunohistochemistry method, and intended to study the correlation between clinical features and pathological characteristics of patients, then try to discuss the function of KRT80 in the occurrence of lung cancer and the prospect of clinical application. In order to provide a significant clinical evidence for the new therapeutic target of non-small cell lung cancer and further clarify the pathogenesis of it.MethodsWe collected paraffin sections of tumor tissues and tumor adjacent normal tissues from 176 cases of non-small-cell lung cancer patients who underwent radical surgical resection from January 2009 to December 2015 in Yunnan Tumor Hospital. Through pathological biopsy resection manufacture and immunohistochemistry method, we detected the expression of KRT80 in tumor tissues and tumor adjacent normal tissues, then statistically analysed the correlation of it's expression and clinical pathological parameters of NSCLC patients.Results1. The KRT80 is highly expressed in tumor tissuesKRT80 protein is mainly expressed in the cytoplasm, nucleus and extracellular domain of NSCLC which is detected by immunohistochemistry. There were 133 cases of tumor tissues with positive expression in 176 cases, accounted for 75.56%, and 69 cases of tumor adjacent normal tissues with positive expression in 176 cases, accounted for 39.20%. The difference is statistically significant (p <0.05). The result suggest the high expression of KRT80 in NSCLC tumor tissues.2. The expression of KRT80 in adenocarcinoma is higher than Squamous cell carcinomaClinical subgroup analysis found that, there were 106 cases of adenocarcinoma with positive expression in 132 cases, accounted for 80.30%,and 27 cases of squamous cell carcinoma with positive expression in 44 cases, accounted for 61.36%.Obviously, the difference is statistically significant (p <0.05). The result suggested that the expression of KRT80 in adenocarcinoma is higher than Squamous cell carcinoma.3. The relationship between the expression of KRT80 and other clinical pathological parametersIn the further clinical subgroup analysis,we conducted a correlation analysis of the expression of KRT80 in NSCLC patients with other clinical pathological parameters, but all of p-values are greater than 0.05, the difference had no statistical significance. The result suggested that the expression of KRT80 has no statistic correlation with patients' gender, age, history of smoking, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, and AJCC stage.Conclusion1. The expression of KRT80 in tumor tissues is higher than tumor adjacent normal tissues in our research,it suggests that the KRT80 may have significant effect on NSCLC.2. The expression of KRT80 in adenocarcinoma is higher than squamous cell carcinoma in our research, it suggests that the KRT80 may have significant effect on the occurrence of lung adenocarcinoma.3. The expression of KRT80 may have no statistical correlation with patients'gender, age, history of smoking, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, AJCC stage in our research.
