Bipolar disorder is a common disease in psychiatry,which is important global health problem. Affective temperament is the response of people to environmental stimuli, including the individual's biological rhythm,emotion,cognition,ect[1]. Abroad studies have suggested that some affective temperaments are a subclinical manifestation of affective disorder, which may be a link between the clinical features of the affective disorder and the biological background[2]. At present, there are few studies on the characteristics of affective temperament in bipolar disorder, and there is no systematic study in this field,The study divided into two parts:Part ? Study on affective temperament of bipolar disorder and to analyze with differences in affective temperament of bipolar disorder type ? and type ?.Objective: To investigate the characteristics of affective temperament in patients with bipolar disorder,to analyze the differences in affective temperament of bipolar disorder type ? and type ?. Method:Using cross-sectional studies,A total of 160 patients with bipolar disorder were enrolled in this study (90 cases with bipolar type ?, 70 cases with bipolar type ?) and 150 cases in control group. Using the Chinese Version of the Short Temperament Evaluation of the Memphis, Pisa, Paris,and San Diego-autoquestionnaire (TEMPS-A) to evaluate affective temperament about patients of bipolar disorder and the control group ,to compare the difference of affective characteristics of sub-types. Results:The total score and 5 factor-score of the emotional temperament scale of the bipolar disorder group were higher than those of the control group,the hyperthymic temperament in patients with type I was higher than that in patients with type ?;the depressive temperament in patients with type ?was lower than that in patients with type ?,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: Bipolar disorder patients had a special emotional temperament.There were differences of affective temperaments between sub-types.The hyperthymic temperament in patients with type I was high score,the Patients with bipolar disorder type? had high depressive temperament.Part ? To compare of affective temperament between patients with bipolar disorder and their first-degree relativesObjective: To explore the characteristics of affective temperament between bipolar disorder and healthy first-degree relatives, and to analyze the difference between them. Method: In this study, 75 patients with bipolar disorder, 75 healthy first-degree relatives and 90 controls were enrolled .Use the Chinese Version of the Short TEMPS-A to assess the type of emotional temperament between bipolar disorder and healthy first-degree relatives, and to compare the differences in emotional temperament. Results: In the aspect of cyclothymic temperament, the scores of patients with bipolar disorder were higher than those of healthy first-degree relatives were higher than the control group. Bipolar disorder group was higher than healthy first-degree relatives group and control group with depressive temperament and anxious temperament factor;compared with irritable temperament and hyperthymic temperament, the scores ofcontrol group were lower than those of bipolar disorder group and healthy first-degree relatives group. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The health first-degree relatives of bipolar disorder also had special affective temperament. Cyclothymic temperament may be one of the " endophenotype " indicators of bipolar disorder.
