Objective:A multitude of osteotomies and procedures has been described for hallux valgus.The aim of this article is to present a simplified minimal incision technique and its effectiveness.MATERIALS AND METHODS:Between October 2014 and March 2016,53 feet suffering from mild to moderate hallux valgus underwent a minimal incision surgery combined with hallux valgus splint and the "8" bandage bandage fixation to a slight overcorrection,preventing hallux dorsiflexion.All patients were treated with hallux valgus angle(HVA)and metatarsophalangeal angle(IMA),and first telescopic length(MT length).X-ray examination was used to examine osteotomy Position.Starting joint active exercise after a week.RESULT:Patients were followed up 12-24 months after operation,and the average time of follow-up was 16 months.After the operation,the evaluation criterion of Wu was used to analysis the intermetatarsal angle(IMA),the hallux valgus angle(HVA),shape changing,activity of the first metatarsophalangeal joint and patient satisfaction.The main complications were postoperative numbness of the toes,of which 5 feet appeared toe paralysis,1 year after the numbness of the symptoms improved,but 1 foot in the postoperative 2 years is still numbness,The rate of complication was low.CONCLUSIONS:The minimal incision procedure without the internal fixation described in this article is effective and relatively simple procedure for correction of mild-to-moderate symptomatic hallux valgus,with the advantages of its minimally invasive nature,the low number of complications,high satisfaction,early weight bearing and good cosmetic results with minimal surgical scars.
