Abstract/Summary:
Objective:To study the concentrations of VEGF(vascular endothelial growth factor)and CTGF(connective tissue growth factor)and their correlation in the vitreous of patients with PDR(proliferative diabetic retinopathy),in ord to find the influence of VEGF and CTGF in the occurrence and development of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Methods: To collect the vitreous of 21 eyes of 21 patients with PDR who were IV~VIphase and needed do pars plana vitretomy as the PDR group, the vitreous of 12 eyes of 12 patients who were with the retinal detachment or aphakic eye or the lens in vitreous and needed do pars plana vitretomy as the control group. All patients went to the Huainan First hospital from September 2015 to September 2016.The leves of VEGF and CTGF of the PDR group and the control group were mesured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and statistically compared by SPASS 17.0.Results: The levels of VEGF in PDR group(147.24±42.43pg/ml)were significantly higher than those in control group(57.98±17.06pg/ml).The concentrations of CTGF in PDR group(1188.06±233.38ng/ml)were significantly higher than those in control group(684.21±199.33ng/ml).The differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).But the levels of VEGF and CTGF were without significant correlation. Conclusion:Vitreous levels of both VEGF and CTGF in patients with PDR are significantly higher than those of no retinal neovascularization and no retinal proliferative patients that shows both VEGF and CTGF may be involved in theoccurrence and development of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. The trerapy of anti-CTGF for PDR may be a new treatment.
