Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of core-stability exercise combined with moxibustion in patients with lumbar disc herniation after treatment of radiofrequency ablation.Method:After the treatment of radiofrequency ablation,60 patients with lumbar disc herniation were randomly divided into routine treatment group?Group C,n=20?,core-stability exercise group?Group E,n=20?and core-stability exercise combined with moxibustion group?Group EM,n=20?.Group C:Routine treatment was performed;Group E:Routine treatment and core-stability exercise were performed;Group EM:Routine treatment, moxibustion therapy and core-stability exercise were performed.Visual Analogue Scale?VAS?of pain,Oswestry Disability Index?ODI?and the trunk muscles extension strength assessment of all the patients were measured at the beginning of the 1st day?1d?,the end of the 1st week?1w?and the end of the 12th week?12w?respectively.Result:Pre-intervention:No significant differences were found?P>0.05?in VAS scores,ODI and strength of trunk muscles in subjects in the 3 groups.?VAS scores of patients in Group C,E and EM all declined at the end of the 1w and the 12w.More reduction of VAS scores was found in Group EM than Group C and group E?P<0.05?.?The ODI of group E and group EM were lower than that of group C at the beginning of the 12w?P<0.05?.Only group EM showed significant decrease at the beginning of the 1w?P<0.05?.? Group E and group EM indicated greater advantages in trunk muscles extension strength assessment after exercise and moxibustion?P<0.05?than group C,but there was no significant difference between group E and EM?P>0.05?.?The flexion time prolonged significantly?P<0.05?at the 1w and the 12w when compared within groups. The flexion time of intervention groups increased significantly?P<0.05?at the 1w and the 12w compared with C group.Compared with group E,group EM showed tiny advantage in flexion strength, but no significant difference?P>0.05?was observed. Conclusion:? Individual core-stability exercise and core-stability exercise combined with moxibustion therapy can relieve the pain effectively in patients with lumbar disc herniation after radiofrequency ablation;? The efficacy of combined treatment is more significant than individual one in pain relief;? Individual core-stability exercise and core-stability exercise combined with moxibustion therapy show advantages in motor function recovery in patients with lumbar disc herniation after radiofrequency ablation;? Combined treatment shows advantage in motor function recovery comparing with individual treatment of core-stability exercise at the 12th week.
