Objective:The commom phenomenon of enamel demineralization can not only influence the oral aesthetics but also lead to early enamel caries. Many materials have been used in clinical practice, and there are lots of related researches. But there is a deficiency of systematic comparisions of the materials as the previous research mainly focused on only two kinds of materials. What is more, there is a lack of analysis of the onset time and continuity of the materials. The limitation of both research object and characteristics of effect reduced the comparability and the value of reference for clinical treatment. This experiment made a comparison of common effective materials from the onset time, the continuity and the effectiveness.Qualitative and quantificational analysis of penetrating resin?fluoride products and GC Tooth Mousse was made to provide reference for clinical practice.Experimental material and method:1.Experimental material:collected 50 premolars, the premolars were divided into group A,B,C,D,E randomly.Group A was kept as the control group and the others served as experimental groups.2.Establish the demineralized mode:each premolar was soaked in the demineralization liquid for 2 weeks and placed in a 37 ? incubator.3.Treatment by different materials:Group A was treated by artificial saliva,Group B was treated by ClinproTM White Varnish,Group C was treated by ClinproTM XT Varnish,Group D was treated by GC Tooth Mousse(CPP-ACP)and Group E was treated by Icon penetrating resin. After treatment, all the premolars were put into the artificial saliva for 6 weeks.4.Make a comparison of the enamel surface from color and smoothness before and after treatment by different materials.5.The surface microhardness(SMH)was tested every two weeks and the results were analyzed by SPSS 17.6.The Scanning Electron Microscope was used at the end of the sixth week to make a comparison of the effect of different materials.Results:1.Viewed by naked eyes:(1)After demineralization, the enamel surfaces became chalky white;(2)After remineralization, the white plaque was most obvious in group A.The remineralization effect of group D acted earlier and better than group B and group C.Immediately after treatment by Icon penetrating resin in group E,the surfaces became rather smooth with almost the normal color and lustre.2.SMH results:(1)Two weeks after treatment, significant differences could be found between all groups.Apart from group B and group C,all groups differed a lot at the end of the second week.Statistically significent differences were obvious among the control group and the experimental groups at the end of the fourth and the sixth week;(2)For group A,significant differences were not obvious until the end of the sixth week. The SMH in group B did not change after four weeks of remineralization while the SMH increased obviously in group C and D with time going. In group E,the SMH increased to a high level at the first SMH test and kept a stability during the following six weeks.3.SEM observation showed that:(1)Deposits could be found in all groups.Enamel surfaces in group A,group B,group C were more rough than group D and group E;(2)Obvious cracks could only been found in group A.Irregular shaped mineral deposits in different sizes were found in Group B and group C while the mineral deposits in group D were small and round. The enamel surfaces in group E were smooth.Conclusion:1.Comparision of the onset time of the materials:artificial saliva acted slowest;the effect of fluoride products was not obvious until the fourth week;GC Tooth Mousse performed an early remineralization effect at the end of the second weekend;Icon penetrating resin immediately repaired the demineralized enamel. The timeliness shoulded be ranked as Icon penetrating resin>GC Tooth Mousse>ClinproTM XT Varnish>ClinproTM White Varnish>artificial saliva.2.Comparision of the continuity of the materials:as time went on,the therapy effect of artificial saliva accumulated slightly;remineralization effect of ClinproTM White Varnish was not obvious after 4 weeks while ClinproTM XT Varnish and GC Tooth Mousse had a more lasting function;Icon penetrating resin immediately acted without obvious change in the following weeks.3.Comparision of the effect of the materials:the naked eye view, the result of the SEM and the SMH taken into account, the remineralization effect of the materials should be ranked as Icon penetrating resin>GC Tooth Mousse>ClinproTM XT Varnish>ClinproTM White Varnish>artificial saliva.
