Objective Schizophrenia and depression patients always show reduced mental health which characterized by a lot of negative feelings, decreased self-evaluation.As one of the objective criteria of mental health,self-compassion may be damaged.Although anhedonia is a common clinical symptom of schizophrenia and depression, few studies explore the relationship between self-compassion and anhedonia.Anhedonia looks the same on the surface in schizophrenia and depression, but it is essentially different in psychopathology. The difference may have influence on the relationship between self-compassion and anhedonia. So,the following objectives: first,we expect to know the level of self-compassion of schizophrenia and depression.Second, this study is to investigate the relationship between self-compassion and anhedonia.Third, this study is to explore the different influence of depressed symptoms on the relationship between self-compassion and anhedonia in schizophrenia and depression.Methods(1)subjects: 172 schizophrenic patients and 112 patients with depressive patients,176 healthy controls(HC).(2)All subjects were assessed with the Chinese Version of Revised Self-Compassion Scale(SCS-C),the Chinese Version of Revised Social Anhedonia Scale(RSAS-C),and the Chinese Version of Revised Physical Anhedonia Scale(RPAS-C).Schizophrenic patients also were assessed by the Beck Depression Inventory(BDI)and the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS),meanwhile, depressive patients also were rated with the BDI.Results(1)Depressive patients had lower total score of SCS-C,higher scores ofRPAS-C and RSAS-C when compared with the healthy subjects(all P<0.01).The SCS-C total score was significantly negatively correlated with RPAS-C score(r=-0.325,P<0.01)and RSAS-C score(r=-0.347,P<0.01)in depression. When the BDI score is regarded as a covariate, the relationship between self-compassion and anhedonia has no statistical significance in depression(r=-0.153,-0.174,P>0.05).(2)Schizophrenic patients had lower total score of SCS-C,higher scores of RPAS-C and RSAS-C when compared with the healthy subjects(all P<0.01).The SCS-C total score was significantly negatively correlated with RPAS-C score(r=-0.382,P<0.01)and RPAS-C score(r=-0.422,P<0.01)in schizophrenia. When the BDI score is regarded as a covariate, the relationship between self-compassion and anhedonia remains persistent(r=-0.258,-0.304,P<0.01).Conclusion Patients with schizophrenia and depression have self-compassive deficits, and depressive patients were worse than schizophrenia. All patients have physical anhedonia and social anhedonia, and depressive patients were more severe than schizophrenia. The lower self-compassion was,the higher anhedonia was in two groups. The relationship between self-compassion and anhedonia is independently of symptom in schizophrenia, however, the relationship between self-compassion and anhedonia in depression is affected by the depressed symptoms, suggesting there is different pathomechanism of the influence of self-compassion on anhedonia in two patients group.
