0bjective To compare the effect of sinus tarsi approach with cannulated screws and mini-locking plate for closed displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures. Methods Totally 63 cases of displaced calcaneal fractures in our department from March.2014 to January.2016 were retrospectively enrolled and treated with either sinus tarsi approach with cannulated screws(n=37)or mini-locking plate(n=26).The two groups were compared in operative time, the follow-up complications, the B?hler angle, length and width of calcaneus before surgery and at the last follow-up.The final curative function was assessed according to the Maryland score. Results The two groups were comparable with regard to demographics(age,Sanders classification,Essex-Lopresti classification, male to female ratio etc.),The operation time were significantly shorter in the hollow screws group(P<0.05).The B?hler angle, length and width of calcaneus at the both groups were significantly greater than those before surgery(P<0.05).The Maryland score of the Sanders ? shown no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05),but the group B has a better score in the type of Sanders ?(P<0.05).The incidence of the complications in the two groups had no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion The sinus tarsi approach was a valuable method for the treatment of type of calcaneal fractures, with low complications. The two surgery for displaced calcaneus fractures both got a similar clinical outcome in the type of Sanders ?,but in the type of Sanders ? mini-locking plate could get a better outcome. The hollow screws had a shorter operation time.
