Objective:This study aims to know about the level of oral health knowledge, attitude, behavior and influential factors of university junior students(freshman and sophomore),design an oral health intervention program based on health communication of WeChat for the college freshmen, compare impacts of this intervention with traditional school-based oral health education on oral health knowledge, attitude and behavior among them, and provide reference for the future school-based health education and intervention.Methods:1.Prevalence survey: 635 junior students from 2 universities in Jianggan District of Hangzhou were selected for the survey. The questionnaire was designed according to existing questionnaire of relevant literature and the theory of "KAP",it includes the following aspects:general demographic information of junior students, awareness of oral health knowledge, condition of oral health care attitude and behavior and demand of oral health intervention.2.Intervention study:601 freshmen in september 2016 form Hangzhou Normal University were selected, who were divided into intervention group(301 freshmen in Cangqian campus)and control group(300 freshmen in Xiasha school-based oral health education. At last,we compared the changes of oral health care knowledge, attitude and behavior between the two groups before and after the intervention, and the effect of intervention was evaluated.3.Mathematical statistics: Epidata3.1 was used to establish the database and input data,SPSS20.0 was used to analyze the data,Chi-square test,Independent-sample T-Test,One-Way ANOVA and Binary Logistic Regression were used to analyze the main factors of oral health care knowledge, attitude and behavior, and evaluated the effect of intervention.Results:1.Results of the prevalence study:the average score of oral health care consciousness and behavior of the junior students was 62.98±8.81,in which, the score of oral health care knowledge was 26.74±6.02,the score of oral health care attitude was 12.54±1.93,and the score of oral health care behavior was 23.71±4.41.We can see from the transformation of centesimal system, the highest score was the attitude, and the score of oral health behavior was significantly lower than that of oral health knowledge and attitude.Gender differences existed in oral health care knowledge, attitude and behavior(P<0.05),girls are better than boys, while origin differences existed in oral health care behavior, students who came from the town were better than that of students from rural areas(P<0.05).In addition to the attitude,science-humanities division differences also existed in oral health care knowledge and behavior(P<0.05),students of humanity did the best. The higher the cost of living, the higher the score of oral health care behavior was.Gender, the cost of living expenses per month,science-humanities division and mother’s educational background were the main influencing factors of oral health care awareness and behavior. The investigation requirements showed that 93.4% of the students think that it was a good way to learn some oral health knowledge through WeChat,84.8% of students were willing to subscribe Official Accounts of WeChat and read its content,79.8% of students were willing to participate in WeChat group and discuss oral health topic,86.8% of students were willing to accept one to one oral health advisory services by WeChat,The most acceptable frequency of public information on WeChat was 1~3 times a week;oral health care knowledge that students want to learn were oral health diet, teeth whitening, the method of brushing teeth and remove of bad breath.2.Following the implementation of an oral health intervention program based on health communication of WeChat, the score of oral health care awareness and behavior in the intervention group was 69.94±9.26,and it was higher than the control group who accepted traditional school-based health education(67.32±9.14),in which the score of knowledge and behavior were improved significantly, and the attitudewas also improved on the basis of original high level.3.During 301 students of intervention group,277(92.0%)students were satisfied with the consulting service offered by the health intervention team;232(77.1%)students were satisfied with the discussions and lectures of WeChat group;245(81.4%)students were satisfied with the public information on WeChat, and there were over 85% students who could learn the knowledge required from the consulting service, discussions, lectures and public platform of WeChat;272(90.4%)students are satisfied with the oral health intervention. All these datas showed that students of intervention group had a higher overall satisfaction of the oral health intervention based on health communication of WeChat. Conclusion:Junior college students are very lack of oral health care knowledge, and their oral health behavior situation is not optimistic as well, but they have a positive attitude to learn some oral health knowledge and change their bad oral habits.Compared with the traditional school-based health education, health interventions based on health communication of WeChat is more flexible and convenient, which helps freshmen to further strengthen the correct attitude of oral health, rich oral health care knowledge, and form the correct oral health behavior. This study provides some reference for future school-based health education and health intervention.
