The Comparison And Evaluation Of Clinical Effect Of The Ultra-thin Ceramic Veneers And Porcelain Laminate Veneers

Human teeth is the organ for chewing function,also for the pronunciation,for the function of speech.A person's permanent teeth can be divided into anterior teeth and posterior teeth according to the function and the position at the dental arch.Anterior teeth play a much more important role in beauty than posterior teeth.It will seriously affect the patient's appearance and confidence,ever will affect patient's mental health if the patient's anterior teeth of improper shape,deficient in size,or unesthetic in color,etc.With the improvement of the aesthetic concept and the quality of life,the aesthetic requirements of the anterior teeth is becoming more and more demanding.However,the treatment of unesthetic teeth has always been a challenge for the clinicians.Buonocore introduced the acid-etch technique and Bowen developed the composite resin expanded the options for treatment of anterior teeth,with these thing,the use of porcelain laminate veneers be a possible in clinical.Compare to other restorations,ultra-thin veneers have the advantages,such as great biological compatibility,and satisfactory esthetic effect,so it's been widely accepted by clinicians and patients.Now there are porcelain laminate veneers and ultra-thin ceramic veneers.The porcelain laminate veneers have been used many years and they have good clinical effects.With the development of materials and computer technology,the thinnest veneer can be 0.2mm,clinically no need to prepare teeth or just remove part of the inverted concave,that is no-prep teeth porcelain veneer.Though ultra-thin veneers have used shorter time in clinical than porcelain laminate veneers,they have minimal trauma,beautiful effect,excellent biological compatibility,besides,Koirala proposed the concept of ‘Oral minimally invasive beauty',now ultra-thin veneers have been used more in clinical.Objective To evaluate the clinical results of ultra-thin veneers though compared with porcelain laminate veneers.Methods 1.After one year of the operation,we reviewed 34 patients with 111 veneers in the region of anterior tooth,and all of them were made with IPS e.max HT in the same company.We used subgingival edge design into the veneers because of beauty;2.All the veneers divided into two groups,included 54 ultra-thin veneers and 57 porcelain laminate veneers.During the review,we recorded the postoperative sensitivity,caries and gingival reaction of the teeth,and the color match,marginal discoloration and marginal adaptation of the veneers,modified Ryge criteria was used,and Chi-squared test was used to analysis the result between the two groups,all the examination is taken by only one doctor.Results There is no caries,postoperative sensitivity and marginal discoloration among the two groups,and the color match,marginal adaptation and gingival reaction of the two groups show no significant difference thorough the examination.Conclusion The ultra-thin ceramic veneers have a fine clinical effect in a certain time.
