Purpose To observe the effect of acupuncture on serum motilin in patients with gastroparesis after abdominal surgery, and to explore the mechanism of acupuncture and gastric emptying. Methods Prospective randomized controlled study. The patients undergoing abdominal surgery from January to December 2016 in Fujian Medical University Union Hospital, was selected in line with the inclusion criteria of 60 patients with postsurgical gastroparesis syndrome and were randomly divided into two groups:the control group using metoclopramide drug treatment, the observation group using acupuncture. To observe the changes of gastrointestinal motility recovery time, the average total score of GCSI and the whole course of treatment's drainage around treatment respectively in the two groups. And serum levels of motilin in two groups were detected by double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).All statistical analysis data were analyzed by SPSS 20 software:the age,the recovery time of gastrointestinal motility, the average amount of gastrointestinal decompression and the grades of gastroparesis were measured by two independent samples t-test or rank sum test;the gender, the type of primary disease using four grid chi square test or R X C contingency table chi square test; The comparison between the two groups of the main symptom index score and the level of serum motilin was conducted by using the independent sample t-test or rank sum test. The paired sample t-test or rank sum test was used in the comparison. Results In terms of the general data analysis, comparison between the two groups before treatment,at age, sex, primary disease type and grades of gastric paralysis were no significant difference(P>0.05).In terms of gastrointestinal motility recovery time in comparison between the two groups, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In terms of the average total score of GCSI in comparison between the two groups, the average GCSI score of the two groups around treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).And the average GCSI score of the two groups after treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In terms of the average gastrointestinal drainage in comparison between the two groups, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);In terms of the levels of serum motilin in comparison between the two groups, the levels of serum motilin around treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).And the levels of serum motilin of the two groups after treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions Acupuncture and metoclopramide all can improve the clinical symptoms of gastroparesis syndrome after abdominal surgery, reduce gastrointestinal drainage and shorten the number of days of treatment,Acupuncture even better than it.Acupuncture and metoclopramide could increase the level of serum motilin;Even, the effect of acupuncture was better than that of metoclopramide.Acupuncture has more advantages in the treatment of postsurgical gastroparesis syndrome, and its mechanism may be related to the promotion of serum motilin secretion.
