Basic medical literacy is an important part of health literacy,reflecting the ability of public on understanding,demand,utilization of the basic medical and health services.Scientific health-seeking and rational medicine-taking are the most direct manifestation of basic medical literacy,if residents are lack of medicine-taking and health-seeking knowledge and skills,not only can't guarantee health,but also may cause a series of problems,such as the waste of medical resources,heavy medical expenses burden,tension in doctor-patient relationship.Under the existing health resources,the ability of using the medical resources rationally and moderately is the necessary literacy of public,and the premise to ensure health.It will have a great significance to popularize basic medical knowledge and skills and give public guidance of the health-seeking and medicine-taking behavior for improving the level of basic medical literacy and enhancing the safety of the medicine-taking and the quality of health-seeking.?Objective? The purpose of this study is to understand the status and influencing factors of basic medical literacy of residents,and to explore the characteristics of health-seeking and medicine-taking behavior by discussing the internal relations between related subjects,finally put forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions.To provide scientific references for the relevant departments to draw up develop intervention strategies to improve basic medical literacy for the relevant departments.?Methods? Under taking into account the geographical distribution,economic status and feasibility of the survey,convenient sampling was adopt to extract 1222 urban and rural residents aged 18 and above in 10 survey spots of five districts in Jilin Province to have a questionnaire survey.The survey included the status of social demographic,knowledge of drug knowledge,medicine-taking behavior,health-seeking behavior,active physical examination and so on.Take the correct rate of answers reached 80% and above as criterion for determining basic medical literacy.SPSS20.0 statistical software was used for statistical analysis.Descriptive analysis was used to make a general description,?2 test and correspondence analysis were used to analyze the influencing factors,and log-linear model was used to analyze the correlation.?Results? The level of basic medical literacy of urban and rural residents in Jilin Province was 17.3%,and the correct rate of answers to basic medical literacy questions was were mostly between 40% and 60%,accounting for 43.9%.More serious problem of basic medical literacy were :“Didn't know the meaning of the ‘OTC' logo on the kit”(88.1%),“Taking antibiotics by oneself”(70.9%),“Purchasing antibiotics without doctors' prescriptions”(62.3%),“Not participate in health examination within two years”(53.4%),“Increasing or decreasing the dosage by oneself”(43.3%),“Self-treatment”(43.0%).There were significant differences in the correct answer rate of basic medical literacy questions of residents between urban and rural areas,educational level,basic medical insurance(P<0.05).The basic medical literacy score of residents showed that urban was higher than rural;Correspondence analysis showed that Junior high school education and below had a close relationship with the correct rate group of 40%~60%,high school or secondary education had a close relationship with the correct rate group of 80%~,college,undergraduate and above had a close relationship with the correct rate group of 60%~80%.The proportion of medical insurance for urban workers had a close relationship with the correct rate group of 60%~80% and 80%~,and the new rural cooperative medical care insurance was close to the correct rate group of <40% and 40%~60%.Logarithmic linear model analysis showed that there was a significant positive interaction between selecting the topical hospital directly and preferred famous doctor,and the direct selection of the grade-A hospitals had significant negative interaction with the active examination.Self-medical treatment,self-increasing drug dose,self-antibiotic behavior,self-taking antibiotics four variables existed two positive interaction.?Conclusions? The basic medical literacy of urban and rural residents in Jilin Province was still at a low level.The problem of scientific health-seeking and rational medicine-taking were prominent.The urban and rural,education level,basic medical insurance were the influencing factors of the basic medical literacy level.There was a certain relationship between the basic medical literacy problems: the direct selection of the grade-A hospitals and the preferred famous doctor intention were consistent,don't take the initiative to participate in physical examination was related with direct selection of the grade-A hospital;Self-medical,self-increasing dose,the purchase of antibiotic,self-taking antibiotics were related to each other,irrational medicine-taking behavior usually exist at the same time.
