Treatment Of Class ? And Mandibular Retraction With Tweed-Merrifield Technology:A Case Report

Objective:Through a case report of treatment of skeletal Class ? adult with Tweed-Merrifield technology,we analysis the change of profile,also we discuss the effectiveness of Tweed-Merrifield technology to adult patients.Materials and methods:We choose a female patient with mandibular retractior..She is 24 years old with deep overjet and overbite,high angle and class ? molar relationship.The patient was treated by extracting 18.28 and four first premolars.We use Tweed-Merrifield technology and two headgears.Results:After 36 months,all the teeth were well aligned with normal overbite and overjet,also Class I molar relationship was realized.By comparing the changes of cephalometric film,we found that Z angle increased 11.5°,profile improved obviously,and smile looks more harmonious.Moreover,FMA decreased 0.5 °,.shows that:the vertical dimension was in good control.Finally,the patient is satisfied wih the treatment effect.Conclusion:Using Tweed-Merrifield technology for the corrections of mandibular retraction,we found that skeletal relationship and facial profile.was greatly improved.
