Objective:To investigate what happens in the face of a skeletal class II patient using Tweed-Merrifield technologyMaterials and methods:We chose a female adult who was a skeletal II malocclusion patient from Ortho Clinic in Jin Zhou distrait of Dalian in July 2011. She is 19 years old with sever over jet, high FMA, slight crowing in upper arch and lace of mandibular growth. After clinical examination, we had a cephalometric and model analysis for her. Finally, we extracted her four third molars and four first premolars and used Tweed-Merrifield technology. We took another cephalometric in the same position and had a detection before and after treatment. There were changes in hard and soft tissue after treatment.Result:Molar relationship and over jet were corrected after orthodontic treatment. Top and bottom line were consistent and FMA decreased about 1°. What changed mostly was her lateral face. Her Z angle had changed about 11°and there was a counterclockwise rotation on mandibular plane. Conclusion:We reached a satisfactory result with counterclockwise rotation of mandibular plane in this skeletal II malocclusion through Tweed-Merrifield technology.
