Objective:Asthma is the most common chronic airway inflammatory disease in children. Some of children with asthma in remission have the clinical manifestations of gastrointestinal motility disorders, such as decreased appetite, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, constipation etc.Western Medicine for the treatment of asthma in remission emphasizes on anti-inflammatory to prevent symptoms worsening and prevent recurrence, but pays little attention to the general situation of children.Traditional Chinese Medicine pays more attention to the holistic concept and holds that the nature of asthma is due to the insufficiency of lung, spleen and kidney, not only in lung. The spleen, stomach and lung have the mother-child relationship. Therefore, the treatment of asthma at remission stage should start from the whole view, focus on regulating the function of the lung, spleen and kidney. The aim of this project is to explore the influence on gastric motility of Fuzheng Zhixiao Fang to children with asthma in remission and evaluate the safety of Fuzheng Zhixiao Fang. Methods:Sixty children in this study aged from 4 to 12 years old with asthma at remission stage were chosen from the outpatient of pediatrics of the General Hospital of the the Air Force from November 2014 to February 2016.The randomized,single-blind,controlled method was applied to this study.Based on the random number table,Sixty children were separated into the trial group(n= 40)and the control group(n= 20).The trial group was given treatment with Fuzheng Zhixiao Fang + montelukast. The control group was only given to montelukast. And 3 months for a treatment course.Systemic symptoms and scores were taken notes of before and after treatment,1 month,2 months,3 months.Electrogastrogram detection was performed on both groups, and the gastric electrical parameters were compared between the two groups before and after 3 months. The experimental data were analyzed statistically using SPSS21.0.P<0.05 was considered significant difference. Results:?Among the 60 children with asthma in remission,56 cases(93.33%)presented one or more gastrointestinal symptoms,36 cases in the trial group, while others in control group. The gastrointestinal symptoms mainly included coprostasis, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, abdominal distension and belching, the incidence was 61.67%,53.33%,45.00%,43.33%and 38.33%respectively.?The average amplitude(Vpp),average frequency(f)and reaction area(Ra)of children with asthma in remission were lower than those of normal children, and the power ratio was<1.?Among the 60 children,54 children finally finished the experiment, including 36 children in the trial group and 18 children from the control group, and 6 cases were missing.?For the trial group, the systemic symptom scores decreased after 1 month, the scores obviously decreased after 3 months and there was significant difference compared with those of before treatment and the control group(P<0.05);while there was no significant change of symptom scores before and after treatment in the control group(P>0.05).?After the 3 months treatment, the Vpp,f,Ra of the trial group significantly increased and there was significant difference(P<0.05),while those of the control group had no significant change.?After the 3 months treatment, the Vpp,f,Ra of the trial group significantly rose and there was significant difference compared with the control group,(P<0.05).?After the 3 months treatment, the power ratio of the trial group was>1,while that of the control group was<1.?During the treatment period and after 3 months of treatment,There were no adverse reactions in the two groups. Conclusion:Most children with asthma in remission have clinical manifestations of gastrointestinal motility disorders, which mainly include coprostasis, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, abdominal distension and belching, all the children with asthma at remission stage have the abnormal gastric electrical activity, showing reduction of gastric electrical power and gastric electrical rhythm, the decreased systolic and diastolic function and delayed gastric emptying. Therefore, the gastric motility disorder should be given treatment.Fuzheng Zhixiao Fang can improve the clinical symptoms of gastrointestinal motility disorders, enhance gastric motility and the gastric systolic and diastolic function, promote gastric emptying without adverse reactions.Fuzheng Zhixiao Fang can improve the quality of life in children, meanwhile it is a safe and effective drug for prevention and treatment of asthma, and worthy popularizing.
