Objective: To measure vestibular evoked myogenic potential(VEMP)and caloric test in Meniere 's disease(MD)patients who ranged from stages 1–4.Methods:60 patients with a symptomatic diagnosis of Meniere's disease were divided into different stages, and measured cervical VEMP(c VEMP),ocular VEMP(o VEMP)and caloric test simultaneously. The control group consisted of 33 volunteers. Results: The abnormal rates of c VEMP in Meniere 's disease stage1,2,3,4 were 11.11%,40.00%,26.92% and 33.33% respectively, and the abnormal rates of o VEMP were 77.78%,70.00%,76.92%,80.00%.There was significantly difference from that of controls(p<0.05).The amplitudes of c VEMP in Meniere 's disease stage1,2,3,4 were78.05±28.99?V,87.60±25.98?V,76.54±28.56?V,62.59±31.62?V,and the amplitude of o VEMP were 4.28±3.99?V,3.50±2.33?V,2.46±2.16?V,1.31±0.49?V,respectively.The abnormal detection rate of caloric test in Meniere 's disease patients increased significantly with the Meniere 's disease staging,up to 86.67% in patients of stage4.Conclusion: Abnormalities of c VEMP and o VEMP and caloric test were found in 60Meniere's disease patients and the abnormal rate were an upward trend, and the amplitudes of c VEMP and o VEMP in the affected ear decreased with the increase of Meniere 's disease staging, showing that the damage of otoliths and horizontal semicircular canal function was positively correlated with disease severity. In VEMPs test, the abnormal rate of o VEMP was significantly higher than c VEMP in all stages.Comparing with caloric test,o VEMP was more suitable for the diagnosis of mild hearing loss in patients.
