Objective: The aim of this study is to observe the clinical efficacy of liver-yang-hyperactivity migraine by shallow needing method or taking flunarizine, and to examine the treatment advantage of shallow needing method on liver-yang-hyperactivity migraine, provide a new perspective for clinical treatment of liver-yang-hyperactivity migraine. Methods: A total of 60 liver-yang-hyperactivity migraine patients who met the inclusion criteria were recruited and randomized into experiment group(shallow needing method group)and control group(taking flunarizine group)in accordance with random number table. The patients of experiment group were treated with shallow needing on the main acupoints: too Creek(double),Taichong(double),temporal three needle(affected side). The patients of control group were treated with oral administration of flunarizine. All patients were treatment strictly in accordance with the advices of doctors for two period of treatment. For evaluating the severity of migraine, all participants were administered assessments including visual analogue scale(VAS)and indexes of episode frequency, illness duration and concomitant symptoms <clinical guidelines of traditional Chinese medicine and new medicine>.Results: 1.VAS scores comparison: Compared with baseline, significantly decreased VAS scores was found in both experiment and control groups after treatment. The experiment group showedsignificantly lower VAS scores than control group after treatment.2.Related indexes of <clinical guidelines of traditional Chinese medicine and new medicine>comparison: Compared with baseline, both experiment and control groups showed significant improvement of the migraine including decreased pain severity, episode frequency, illness duration and concomitant symptoms after treatment.Additionally, there were no significantly differences in episode frequency, illness duration and concomitant symptoms between two groups after treatment(p>0.05);while the pain severity and total scores of experiment group were significantly decreased compared with those of control group(P<0.05).3.The clinical efficacy comparison: In experiment group, the clinical cure rate was 13.33%,effective rate is 30.00%,effective rate was 46.67%,inefficiency was 10.00% and total effective rate was 90.00%.While in control group, the clinical cure rate was 6.67%,effective rate is 13.33%,effective rate was 56.67%,inefficiency was 23.33% and total effective rate was 76.67%.The clinical efficacy of experiment group was significantly superior to control group. Conclusion: The shallow needing method could improve the clinical symptoms in liver-yang-hyperactivity migraine patients, and it has high security, deserves clinical application because of more superior clinical efficacy than oral administration of flunarizine.
