The Correlation Between Immune And Inflammatory Response In Schizophrenia

Objective:To explor the correlation between immune and inflammatory response and schizophrenia.Methods:(1)According to the total 84 cases of schizophrenic patients are collected from The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision(ICD-10),from Mar 2016 to Dec 2016 in Yanbian Brain Hospital,including 43 cases of males and 41 cases of females.And to take another 52 cases of healthy people with the similar age as the control groups,including 24 cases of male and 28 cases of female.(2)To evaluate mental symptoms of schizophrenic patients by Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS).(3)To gather the materials about the age,sex,marital status,height and weight of the patient.(4)To take the blood(without eating anything for 12 hours)in the early morning;detect Homocysteine(HCY)by automatic biochemical analyzer;control the quality and classify by checking White blood cell(WBC),Red blood cell(RBC),Hemoglobin(HGB),Red blood cell volume(HCT),Platelet(PLT),Neutrophilic granulocyte(NEU%),Percentage of lymphocytes(LYM%),Neutrophil(NEU),Lymphocyte(LYM),Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)by automated hematology analyzer and supporting kits;calculate the NLR and detect the concentrations of Interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP)by using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay(ELISA).(5)The total data of this research are counted up and analyzed by statistical software SPSS 20.0.The measurement data of normal distribution with mean standard deviation(x±SD)said,t test for independent samples,non normal distribution of measurement data with median(P25,P75),Mann-Whitney U test;count data expressed as a percentage of chi square test;the correlation between IL-6 and related factors using Spearman correlation analysis,effect of immune and inflammatory factors in schizophrenia using multivariate logistic regression analysis,with P<0.05 as the difference was statistically significant.Results:(1)The schizophrenic group NLR,HCY,IL-6 and LYMPH%were 2.06±0.80,17.1(8.65,28.53),61.42(21.42,111.96),and 31.22±6.88,healthy control group were respectively of 1.71 ±0.57,11.20(8.03,15.98),25.61(14.34,66.12)and 35.58±7.83,the difference is statistical significance(P<0.05);male schizophrenia group NLR,IL-6 and LYMPH%were respectively of 2.01±0.83,61.96(19.35,128.01)and 31.56±7.42,healthy male control group were respectively of 1.59±0.54,31.10(17.67)66.12),and 37.13±8.04,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);female schizophrenic group NLR,IL-6 and LYMPH%were 2.11±0.77,62.22(21.95,107.19)and 30.86±6.34,healthy women,control group were respectively of 1.82±0.55,25.49(14.34,50.66)and 34.26±7.52,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)HCY was positively correlated with IL-6 in schizophrenic patients,the R value was 0.423,and the correlation was statistically significant(P<0.001).(3)IL-6 was positively correlated with PANSS total score and Negative symptom score(NEGA)in schizophrenic patients.The R values were 0.777 and 0.861,and the correlation was statistically significant(P<0.001).(4)Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that schizophrenia was closely related to IL-6 and NLR,and the OR values were 1.039(95%CI:1.000?1.014,P<0.05)and 1.706(95%CI:1.146?3.869,P<0.05).Conclusion:The NLR,IL-6 and HCY of schizophrenic patients are higher than healthy people and there is a positive correlation between HCY and IL-6.It can be used as an inflammatory factor and checked in the laboratory or laboratory reports support the clinic diagnosis and can be use as a diagnostic basis.There is a positive correlation between IL-6 concentration and PANSS total scores and NEGA of schizophrenic patients,which shows that it can be used as a biomarker which can be used to evaluate the severity of schizophrenia and negative symptoms.NLR and IL-6 are the factors which can influence schizophrenia.It can be a predictive factor for schizophrenia and improving the accuracy of diagnosing schizophrenia.
