Mood Status Evaluation And Correlative Factor Analysis In Prosthesis Eye Wearer

Objective:Removal of eye has a great impact on physical and mental healthy of prosthesis patients.The purpose of this study is to evaluate satisfaction,level of anxiety and depression,and personality trait and to investigate the relationship between demographic,clinic,and psychosocial data and level of anxiety or depression.Methods:67 anophthalmic patients wearing prosthesis who visited Artificial Eye Clinic of Department of Ophthalmology,Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University were enrolled between January 2016 to December 2016.Demographic data and clinical data were collected.Every patient completed the questionnaire independently,including Satisfaction Evaluation Questionnaire,Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale.Correlation analysis of demographic,clinical,psychosocial data,and level of anxiety and depression was made.Further regression analysis was to identify whether Psychoticism.Extraversion,Neuroticism(independent variables)were predictors of anxiety or depression(dependent variables).Results:The portion of patients with anxiety was 7.5%and depression was 10.4%.Depression was related to cause of enucleation,disfigure induced high level of depression than trauma,neoplasms.Average satisfaction score of prosthesis was 7.12±2.33(full marks:10),the lower scores,the higher level of anxiety.Regression analysis revealed that higher Neuroticism(anxiety:?=0.490 P<0.001 depression:?=0.430 P<0.001)and lower Extraversion(anxiety:?=-0.250 P<0.001 depression:?=-0.409 P<0.001)related to high greater level of anxiety or depression.Psychoticism,or demographic data was irrelevant to anxiety or depression.Conclusion:The Prosthesis patients were related to high proportion of anxiety and depression.The level of anxiety or depression was relevant to prosthesis satisfaction?neuroticism,and extraversion.Physician should pay more attention to both physical and mental health of prosthesis patients,and provide psychological intervention if necessary.
